LIV Golf Mayakoba prize money
How much did the winner bank at El Camaleon in Mexico?
Mayakoba has the pleasure of hosting LIV Golf’s season opener for a second consecutive year.
This time, it will be graced with more players and stars from the European scene such as Jon Rahm, Tyrrell Hatton and Adrian Meronk.
A number of players have swapped sides during LIV’s transfer window with Smash GC signing Talor Gooch and Graeme McDowell, while Harold Varner III has switched from Rangegoats GC to 4Aces GC.
We now have 13 teams ready to begin what will no doubt be an intriguing year for professional golf as LIV’s bank, the Public Investment Fund, still pursues an agreement with the PGA Tour.
54 players will tee it up at El Camaleon Golf Course in Mexico, in search of the $4 million pot at the end of the green, white and red rainbow.
Rahm will begin his first LIV Golf event playing with Gooch and Cameron Smith in a marquee group on Greg Norman’s roster.
LIV’s field is undoubtedly stronger after months of rumours and speculation surrounding several players. Kalle Samooja and Lucas Herbert were two other notable acquisitions respectively to Cleeks GC and Ripper GC.
So we have a different complexion in terms of the format and faces, but what about the prize money?
The prize money structure remains unchanged from last season with $20 million being paid to individuals and $5 million being paid to the top three teams in the team discipline.
