Who is Tyrrell Hatton?
Known for his on-course commentary and moments of anger, Tyrrell Hatton is a fan favourite, and has established himself as a major name on both the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour over the last few years.
The Englishman qualified for the Open Championship in 2010 as an amateur, and a year later, he turned professional. After wins on the Jamega Pro Golf Tour and the PGA EuroPro Tour, he graduated to the DP World Tour in 2014, where he had a pair of top five finishes.
Hatton’s first win on the DP World Tour came in 2016, as he conquered the Old Course at St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns to win the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. He returned a year later, defending his title before then winning the Italian Open.
Hatton is one of just two men to have won more than two Rolex Series tournaments on the DP World Tour. His four victories rank second only to former World No 1 Jon Rahm, who has five. The Italian Open was the first of those, and he has also lifted the Turkish Airlines Open, BMW PGA Championship and Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship trophies.
The Englishman grabbed his first PGA Tour win in 2020, as he won the Arnold Palmer Invitational. That win, along with the victory at the DP World Tour’s flagship event at Wentworth, saw him break into the top five in the world rankings at the start of 2021, with World No 5 being his career-best to date.
