Who plays where? Keeping up with LIV Golf’s team reshuffle
There’s been a number of trades among the LIV Golf ranks, as well as a new signing or two, so you need to keep up with who plays for who…
It won’t be long until Jim White wraps his yellow tie around his neck and starts shouting down our televisions.
The LIV Golf transfer window is still in full swing but the start of the Saudi-backed league’s third season is fast approaching.
There was the small matter of Jon Rahm’s reported £450-million switch on December 7. He will captain a new team now named Legion XIII.
He has been joined by Tyrrell Hatton, Caleb Surratt and Kieran Vincent.
There has also been some internal movement with the most notable transactions taking place on Brooks Koepka’s Smash GC.
Not only has the American snapped up Graeme McDowell, but he’s also acquired LIV’s 2023 champion Talor Gooch, seeing Matthew Wolff go the other way to RangeGoats GC.
The RangeGoats have a very different outlook next year with Wolff and Peter Uihlein joining Bubba Watson and Thomas Pieters.
Harold Varner III traded light pink for dark blue and headed for the 4Aces alongside Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed and Pat Perez, who was retained after losing his contract.
Carlos Ortiz and David Puig also engaged in a straight swap. Ortiz now represents Torque GC while Puig has joined Sergio Garcia on Fireballs GC.
James Piot, Sihwan Kim, Jediah Morgan and Chase Koepka were relegated during the 2023 season, while Bernd Wiesberger decided to leave Cleeks GC and regain his DP World Tour membership.
Kieran Vincent, Kalle Samooja and Jinichero Kozuma progressed through LIV Golf Promotions in Abu Dhabi.
Samooja has signed for Martin Kaymer’s Cleeks GC, as has DP World Tour star Adrian Meronk.
