Where is Jupiter Island, and why is it the home of the world’s golfing elite?

Jupiter Island in Florida has become a hub for golfers to practise, socialise and network. But what is it about this area that makes it tick?

  • Why do so many golfers live in jupiter, florida and what golfers live in jupiter, florida?

For decades, one place in the United States has been the golfing hotspot of the world, housing some of the biggest names and allowing them to work and live in peace and tranquillity.

As more players head to Florida, the question constantly arises: Why do so many golfers live in Jupiter, Florida?

If ever you’re lucky enough to take a stroll around Jupiter Island in Florida, you will likely bump into at least 10 Jupiter, Florida golfers who circulate the PGA Tour schedule.

To become an elite professional golfer, it goes without saying you must practise a lot. And it is no good if rain and snow dominate your region for large proportions of the year.

Weather is one of the many reasons why so many of the best players on the PGA Tour and the LIV Golf League live in Palm Beach County in Florida and specifically, Jupiter Island.

Jupiter is 90 miles north of Miami. This tax-friendly haven is thought to feature over 60 players from the men’s and women’s spheres.

Keegan Bradley is a prime example of a player who decided to flee home in a quest for professional golf’s perfect playground. The 2011 PGA Championship winner and soon-to-be US Ryder Cup captain moved to this affluent part of Florida to progress his game and left Vermont, a region that provides ideal conditions for skiing, not golf.

“I don’t think anywhere in the world they have what we have here in Jupiter,” Bradley said as reported by Golfweek in 2021.

Bradley is part of the long list of golfers that live in Jupiter and the great golf migration began with the iconic 18-time major-winning legend Jack Nicklaus who moved there in 1966. He opened the Bears Club, one of countless golf facilities in the area that players use for practice and leisure.

Stars of the PGA Tour schedule and LIV Golf League like Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, Dustin Johnson and Patrick Cantlay are all members of the Bears Club. There are 69 courses within a 15-mile radius of Jupiter including Dye Preserve, Seminole, Medalist, Jupiter Hills, Old Palm and Grove XXIII.

It is said at the Bears Club that each player can beat balls on the range for hours after staff have meticulously prepared buckets of their preferred models.

The lush greens, luxurious clubhouses and perfect fairways provide ideal practice conditions for a large portion of the year, and a quite accurate simulation of the conditions and golf courses these stars play on the PGA Tour schedule.

Why do so many golfers live in Jupiter, Florida and what golfers live in Jupiter, Florida?

So we have the weather ticked off. Golf facilities too. There is also the Tiger Woods effect who has lived permanently in Jupiter for over a decade and has been his base while navigating the PGA Tour schedule.

Woods reportedly bought a mansion on Jupiter Island for $38 million in 2006, moving from Orlando. He made the Island his permanent address in 2011 following his divorce from his wife Elin Nordegren.

Any chance to buy a house and circulate the same roads as the best golfer to have ever lived is probably going to be taken.

Phil Mickelson was late to the party, but the six-time major-winning legend also recently bought a house on Jupiter Island, joining the list of golfers that live in Jupiter. Golf scribe Alan Shipnuck cited a Wall Street Journal report that there had been 35 homes sold for at least $30 million in the space of about 20 months.

You’re also not left wanting for dining facilities in Palm Beach County either. The Woods Jupiter is Tiger’s flagship restaurant and is supposedly an ideal spot for golfers and other figures to socialise in the evening with no chance of celebrity seekers or paparazzi waiting outside.

And then there is the 1000 North restaurant which was so brilliantly detailed by Shipnuck in 2021. This restaurant includes investors such as Johnson, Bradley, Thomas, Brooks Koepka, Rickie Fowler, Ernie Els, Luke Donald and Camilo Villegas.

Major-winning icons of yesteryear such as Greg Norman and Nick Price have circulated the rads of this Florida area for many years too.

Once you delve into the million-dollar details, it is clear to see why the best golfers on the planet are so strongly attracted to Jupiter Island and this part of Florida in general.
