Keegan Bradley is an American who has come back to form in recent years, having won a major championship in his first year on the PGA Tour.

Bradley was born in Vermont in the United States in 1986, and was an all-state ski-racer growing up. He chose golf as a teenager, and went to St John’s University where he was successful throughout his collegiate career. He graduated in 2008, and spent time on the NGA Hooters Tour (winning twice) and the Nationwide Tour, before moving up to the PGA Tour in 2011.

He would go on to win the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year award that season, thanks to a maiden win on the tour, at the HP Byron Nelson Championship, and victory in his maiden major appearance – coming in a playoff at the PGA Championship. Bradley also has a World Golf Championships victory and a pair of FedEx Cup Playoffs wins to his name. He has eight PGA Tour wins, and 13 in total, during his career.

He played for the United States in the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup in three consecutive years. He featured against Europe in both 2012 and 2014, and took on the International Team in 2013 at the Presidents Cup. It was announced in July 2024 that he would become the American captain for the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black.

Keegan Bradley | What’s In His Bag?

Bradley uses clubs from a range of brands in his bag, with TaylorMade at the top. A Qi10 driver is matched with a SIM 2 3-wood. A Callaway Apex Pro hybrid is then joined by Srixon ZX MkII irons and a pair of Cleveland RTX ZipCore wedges. An Odyssey Versa putter completes the bag.

When did Keegan Bradley turn professional?

Did you Know?

Victory on Major Debut

Bradley’s first appearance in a major championship came at the 2011 PGA Championship. He would go on to defeat Jason Dufner in a three-hole aggregate playoff at the Atlanta Athletic Club to claim the victory on his major debut. Only five other men, including Francis Ouimet, Willie Park Sr. and Ben Curtis had achieved the feat prior to Bradley’s win in Atlanta in 2011.

Major Win, Rookie of the Year

The 2011 season was also Bradley’s first on the PGA Tour. Unsurprisingly, as a first-time major winner, the American went on to claim the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year award at the end of the campaign.

Skiing Over Golf?

It was not until Bradley was a teenager that he decided to pursue golf as a career. Prior to that, the American had grown up as an all-state ski racer, and loved being on the slopes.

Mention a European country, and Matt will tell you which resorts make the National Club Golfer Top 100s: European Resorts list. He might even throw in who designed the golf course and how many rooms the hotel has got at each one…

Matt got into the game of golf from a young age, following his old man to the local golf club. He fell for the sport, and now can’t seem to go a day without thinking about how to improve his game (Thanks Dad!). Matt has been a member of Howley Hall GC in Leeds since 2020, and is just about managing to maintain a single-figure handicap. He likes to remind people that he once broke 75, but won’t tell people that it was on a shortened course during the winter.

He moved to Leeds after graduating from the University of Central Lancashire with a First Class Honours degree in Sports Journalism. Matt joined NCG after almost five years travelling the world with the Professional Squash Association, working on events in all four corners of the globe.

Matt currently plays a Cobra King LTDx driver and RadSpeed 3-wood. TaylorMade monopolise the rest of his bag, with a SIM UDI, M5 irons and both Milled Grind and HI-TOE wedges, along with a Monza Redline putter. He uses a Vice Pro Plus golf ball, because he’s a bit different…

Away from golf, Matt is a Manchester United fan, and a keen runner, having ran the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon (his first and possibly last), in May 2023.
