What can Tiger Woods achieve in 2025?

Just the four majors, even less than that, or perhaps even more? The NCG team predicts how often we will see Tiger Woods play golf in 2025

He enjoyed playing with his son Charlie at the PNC Championship again, but the serious stuff starts soon.

There’s no question Tiger Woods will do everything to prepare for the Masters in April. No matter what surgeries and setbacks his body has caused him in the last four years, he’s made sure to play Augusta National.

But beyond that, it is anyone’s guess. If Woods comes through Augusta unscathed and without opening new scars to his leg which was so badly damaged in a car accident in 2021, he could play a few times on the PGA Tour in 2025.

The near-50-year-old won’t know his own schedule yet. He could possibly play at the Genesis Invitational in February, an event he hosts in Los Angeles, and he has his own exemption category in Signature Events on the US circuit, as a result of his illustrious career which has seen him win 82 titles and 15 majors.

Using the best of our instincts, the NCG team has put together some predictions of how often we will see Tiger Woods play golf in 2025.

Predicting the Tiger Woods 2025 schedule

Dan Murphy

I suspect it will be no more than a couple. And I’ll still be watching, just in case he provides a glimpse of the player he once was.

Steve Carroll

He may be able to patch himself together for the Masters – and it wouldn’t surprise me if he made the cut. But from there, if history is any guide, it’s going to be a struggle. He’ll want to play at Portrush, but if Northern Ireland is as cold and damp as it was in 2019 I’d wager that yet another niggle ends his season early.

He’s done so much in the game that he gets to call when he hangs up the clubs. His career, though, effectively ended with that LA car crash. How many times will he play? No more than four.

Matt Chivers

With the Masters, I’d liken Tiger’s preparation to a horse trainer aiming for the Gold Cup months in advance. I’m sure he’ll work his body backwards from April to guarantee his participation at Augusta. He has his own exemption category on the PGA Tour, so Riviera is likely. Sawgrass would be nice. I’d say we’ll see at least the four majors.

Paul Miller

In 2025, I predict Tiger Woods will play at least three times – he will no doubt be in his new Sun Day Red shoes and apparel that automatically adjust based on how much he’s sweating, which, let’s be honest, will be a lot – an issue covered before by the NCG team.

As for how he’ll do, by the end of the year, he’ll have at least one epic comeback story and a new Netflix series.

We will get a glimpse of Tiger in the brand TGL in January. How will he look? How will he swing the club? After the last few years, I can’t see Tiger playing more than once a month when it comes to four-day events, and I am not sure if he can even walk around a course for four days. He will play at the four majors, but he won’t compete, even if we all want him to!

Max McVittie

“I’m not sharp enough yet,” was the sentiment from Woods recently. It was sad to see the games’ greatest struggle to not just compete, but finish a round at many of the majors in 2024. His early exits at The Open, US Open and the PGA Championship don’t bode well for any sort of comeback for the 15-time major champion. I think we would all like to see Tiger Woods get back to some form of fitness and as the fire still burns to compete there is always hope. I think we will see Woods compete in more than just the majors this year for better preparation, but I can’t say I’m holding my breath.

Mike Robertson

Hmm. I think he is going to play the four majors and that might be it. I just can’t see a way back.
