  • Alfred dunhill links championship tee times: first round

The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is one of the most popular events on the DP World Tour. This is down to the location of the tournament, and the nature of it too.

The professional competition is played across three incredible golf courses: The Old Course at St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns. Certainly three of Scotland’s most spectacular golf settings.

The pros play for the trophy and the prize money, but also with an amateur partner which is often a celebrity or a family member. 168 players are paired with 168 amateurs, so it is truly a special occasion that always attracts a great field.

Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka, Patrick Reed, Tommy Fleetwood, Shane Lowry, Tyrrell Hatton, Bob MacIntyre, Jon Rahm and defending champion Matt Fitzpatrick are all playing this week in golf’s home country. Last year, Matt Fitzpatrick also won the team event alongside his mother Susan.

MacIntyre, who won the Canadian Open on the PGA Tour with his father Dougie on the bag, will also be hoping to lift more silverware but this time with his father using some clubs of his own on the fairways as a competitor.

We are coming towards the end of the DP World Tour season and although some of the world’s best players are in the field, both excelling on the PGA Tour and in the LIV Golf League, it is an important time for these DP World Tour members hunting spots in the DP World Tour Playoffs.

After this week is done, we have just three more events before the DP World Tour Playoffs begin at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship at Yas Links which begins on November 7.

The top 70 players in the Race to Dubai rankings get into that event, with the top 50 thereafter heading to the DP World Tour Championship the following week at the Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates.
