The DP World Tour returns to action following the Ryder Cup, and several big players and celebrities have arrived for one of the tour’s flagship events, the 2025 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
Where is the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship played?
The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is played in Fife, Scotland, across three of the country’s most popular courses: the Old Course at St Andrews, Carnoustie Golf Links, and Kingsbarns Golf Links.
How does the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship 2025 work?
There are two sides to the Alfred Dunhill Links – the individual professional tournament and a Team Championship where each of the 168 players in the field is paired with an amateur, usually a celebrity or family member.

Players will play a round at each course between Thursday and Saturday before the final round is played at the Home of Golf.
To determine which players make it to the final round on Sunday, there is a 54-hole cut for the professional tournament, which is the top 60 and ties. The leading 20 teams in the Team Championship will also participate on the final day of play.
Amateurs receive a stroke allowance that is equal to two-thirds of their handicap to a maximum of 18 for men and 24 for women. The team score is the lower of the pro’s and his amateur partner’s net score for each hole.
Who is in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship 2025 field?
Many of Team Europe’s Ryder Cup heroes are set to tee it up at this week’s tournament, with Tommy Fleetwood, Matt Fitzpatrick, Bob MacIntyre and Tyrrell Hatton making the trip.
Other notable players in the field include Danny Willett, Marco Penge, Laurie Canter, Tony Finau, Aldrich Potgeiter, Harry Hall and Padraig Harrington.
Interestingly, several LIV golfers will be making the trip to Scotland with Brooks Koepka, Louis Oosthuizen, Martin Kaymer, Bubba Watson and Dustin Johnson among the names all receiving a sponsor’s invite for the tournament.

Celebrities who have played in the Team Championship over the years include Gareth Bale, Ruud Gullit, and Kevin Pietersen from the sports world, as well as Michael Douglas and Andy Garcia from the acting world.

Tyrrell Hatton
Tyrrell Hatton is the defending champion returning to the home of golf, and he has won this event three times. The Englishman clearly thrives in the soft conditions at these three golf courses at this time of the year.
Arriving off the back of helping Europe to win the Ryder Cup, Hatton has had a great year. He almost won the US Open at Oakmont, he came tied for fifth at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth and tied for 16th at The Open.
In terms of his LIV Golf form, he found over 71% of greens in regulation across each event of the Saudi-funded circuit and finished in the top 10 three times. At 8/1, he is a bet.
Marco Penge
If Tyrrell Hatton is a bet, then Marco Penge at 16/1 should certainly be among your considerations for this week. The Englishman has had a great year, winning the Hainan Classic and the Danish Golf Championship on the DP World Tour.
He came second at the Scottish Open, competing with Rory McIlroy, and had three other top 10s. He is challenging the grand slam winner for the Race to Dubai title, and what an achievement that would be if he were to topple the long-term dominant force on this tour in McIlroy, despite the Northern Irishman playing minimal events on it each year.
He smashes the ball miles, averaging over 318 yards off the tee, which is over 20 yards beyond the tour average. He is also in the top 10 of putts per green in regulation on the DP World Tour, and eighth in greens in regulation.
Brooks Koepka
Brooks Kopeka showed some signs of life at the FedEx Open de France before the Ryder Cup. He came fourth and dispelled his awful run of form before that, which read MC, MC, MC, tied 12th, MC, MC.
To his credit, Koepka has put himself out and kept himself busy in what he could easily interpret as the off-season, with the LIV calendar over for 2025. He came tied for 10th at the Dunhill in 2024 and tied for seventh back in 2018.
This is still a five-time major champion we’re talking about at 25/1, and although he didn’t quite hit his peak in 2025, he came second in the LIV event at Singapore, tied for seventh in Adelaide and was statistically very good on he greens.
How much do you get for winning the Championship?
The prize purse for the event has been set at $4.8 million, with the winner taking home $816,000, the same as last year’s winner, Tyrrell Hatton.

Who was the Alfred Dunhill Links winner?
Tyrrell Hatton became the 2024 Alfred Dunhill Links winner by making a birdie on the 72nd hole to overcome Nicolas Colsaerts at St Andrews. This was the third time Hatton had won the event in Scotland.
