‘Is that legal?’ Watch major winner hole traumatic yippy putt
We all remember Will Zalatoris giving us nightmares in 2022 with his questionable putting technique, but the American now has competition for the yippiest stroke in golf – and it comes from a one-time major winner.
Taking the dishonourable honour for the shortest backstroke we’ve ever seen, and proving again that even the world’s best suffer just like us, Lucas Glover has gone viral after traumatically tapping in a putt on day one at The American Express.
In a video which makes for uncomfortable viewing, here’s what happened when the 2009 US Open champion approached a routine par putt in La Quinta. Warning, viewer discretion is advised…
Blink and you’ll miss it. Glover would go on to card six birdies en route to a 69 at PGA West, a round which reportedly only featured the one old-fashioned yip. But as always, the clip quickly viral, and suddenly the PGA Tour star was trending for all the wrong reasons.
‘Look away’
‘Is that legal?’
‘Chaotic evil’
‘Even shorter than Jon Rahm’s backswing!
These were just some of the comments knocking around on Twitter as it seemed fans couldn’t quite believe what they had just witnessed. Don’t worry, Lucas, at least you made the putt!
