Under Armour Drive Pro Wide Golf Shoe Review: First Impressions
Admittedly, I had heard a lot about Under Armour’s Drive Pro Wide shoes so I was curious to see them in person and get them out on the course. First impressions were all really positive, I received these in the white and blue version which look really smart (They are available in a further 4 colourways if that isn’t your style!). The whole make up of the shoe is definitely in the category of ‘trainer’ aesthetic as you can tell that performance and technology took priority in the design period. I am certainly not saying they don’t look smart, the shoe just conform to the popular on & off course appeal that the majority of golf brands are leaning into these days.
Surprisingly, despite it being packed with technology and being on the chunkier side of a shoe, they are surprisingly light to hold and wear – even being spiked they don’t feel too different from a normal pair of running shoes which makes them extremely comfortable to wear on the course.
I owned a pair of the Under Armour Hovr shoes previously which I was a big fan of and this Pro-Wide version is certainly a huge upgrade on the comfort and stability factors of the shoe.

As per the Under Armour website they have updated the shoe with more room around the ball of the foot contribute to this comfort and stability which I can certainly vouch for. The new UA S3 spikes (designed with soft spikes) are also a factor to the stability the shoe offers, particularly playing golf in the UK!
Whilst the courses are doing their best to dry up it is still damp and unsteady in patches but the spikes held up really well and quickly gave me confidence I could swing normally without losing my footing.
On Course Testing
Right then, onto the golf course. I’ll start with how they felt to wear… right from the off they were really comfortable, supportive around my whole foot and really easy to walk in. I played a couple of rounds in the shoes as part of the testing and can confirm there was no bedding in period required which is always an added bonus.
Under Armour have really doubled down on the performance side of the golf shoe in the market, and this release feels like it is certainly one of the front runners for a performance shoe.
A couple of features that really stood out for me was the grip and stability it offered throughout the round and in a variety of situations. Under Armour have installed a trademark UA HOVR foam with additional cushioning that works really well in supporting the foot through the full golf swing.
NCG Summary
The Under Armour Drive Pro Wide will definitely be a staple in my golfing footwear this year. Ridiculously comfortable and noticeably stable around your foot for all situations on the golf course.
They look and feel really durable so will be well placed in my car boot as the regular after work round of golf or the impromptu outing at the weekend shoes.

Would certainly recommend to anyone in the market for their next pair of golf shoes. Â
