Puma makes excellent golf shoes and boots, and the Royale Golf Shoe is no exception. Matt Chivers takes them for a spin to see if they are the right spring/summer option for you.
The Puma Royale golf shoes are sturdy, beautifully coloured (especially if they are in all white) and perform well on the golf course. They tick many boxes that every golfer should look for when buying their next pair of golf shoes.
Let’s find out why this is the case with our Puma Royale golf shoe review…
It is hard to not to be a fan of the Puma Royale Golf Shoes. Some golfers might not like the pointed, formal nature of them, but they are overall a solid look.
The performance and feel on the golf course instils confidence in your own game and the all-white colour has you looking and feeling the part.
When I first opened the box and my Puma Royale Golf Shoes were revealed to me, a large smile extended across my face. White in golf shoes and golf clothing looks great, but these golf shoes just beamed from the box.
I’m surprised I couldn’t see light peaking from the top, underneath the lid. These shoes were extremely smart, and from the moment I carefully picked them from the box, I knew I would be wearing them for my next game of golf, then the game after that and the game after that. If you purchased these shoes, you would immediately be excited for the summer you have in store. I think I’ll protect them for the winter.
The thin white laces look very nice, too. It’s all white, with a line of navy blue going around the bottom of the shoes, which makes for a nice contrast. The only downside might be that they resemble formal shoes.
If they were black, it might look like you’d bought shoes for the office or a wedding. But they’re white, so were fine. The first feel of the shoes was sturdy. They are very pointed and strong, and I was looking forward to wearing them out on the golf course at this point.
On Course Testing
On the golf course, they felt solid. Sometimes, with golf shoes that look and feel a little pointed, they can be uncomfortable. Perhaps that part of the design is a downside and something some golfers don’t like. But I was able to see past this when I first saw them and when I wore them on the golf course. You can feel the benefit of the full-grain leather and the ProFoam midsole when walking on the fairways and in the rough.

I felt comfortable with each step that I took, and this is largely thanks to the TPU welt and the ProMold sock liner which is built in to ensure your feet are supported. Most of these words don’t mean a lot to golfers but it is interesting to discover the elements and reasons why golf shoes feel and look the way they do. I am also a strong believer in looking the part and feeling the part. With the Puma Royale Golf Shoes, I felt confident on the golf course, and it is one thing less to worry about when you have a trustworthy pair of golf shoes on.
They are spikeless golf shoes which is a concept I admittedly haven’t bought into yet fully. But there is no uncomfortable, rocky feeling underneath your feet with these shoes. The navy blue, white and sky-blue combination looks great and in terms of feel, everything is fine.
The performance might be called into question a little more when it’s more slippery underfoot in the winter. But remember, golf shoes are mostly built for all conditions now and the Puma Royale Golf Shoes have that steely touch that will stand the test of many rounds in different conditions.
19th Hole
In terms of settings away from the golf course, you probably couldn’t wear these shoes anywhere else. This isn’t to their detriment as they are comfy and serve a purpose on the golf course, but they don’t really suit a social setting or milling around your local town centre. Especially in bright white, they reduce the versatility somewhat. In other colourways, feel free to experiment but when it comes to the pure white colourway, stick to the golf course and the 19th hole to be on the safe side.

Although this shoe has many modern features, it also has that classic style, and it is probably that classic look that makes this shoe exclusively suitable for the golf course and not for the social scene.
One thing is for sure – you will look the bee’s knees in the clubhouse and no doubt will get others enquiring about the puma golf shoes you have on.
