G/FORE Gallivan2r G/Lock Saddle Golf Shoe Review: First Impressions
Classic style is back. We have all seen pictures of all-time great golfers wearing simple yet stylish saddle golf shoes, and we have all owned pairs in the past that were too heavy and not comfortable until you’ve done 30 rounds in them.
The G/Fore Gallivan2r G/Lock Saddle golf shoe is a nod to the classic design but with all-new technology that makes these shoes a must-have. I am a huge fan of the spikes, the clean design and the double pink ringlets on the shoes that just give them a pop of color. The red soles stand out really nicely too.
NCG Verdict
I only really wear two brands of golf shoes, and G/Fore is one of them. They have never failed to deliver on quality, and as I am always in golf shoes, I may as well be in a good pair. Golf shoes serve many purposes for me; I wear them to teach, I wear them to play in, I wear them to the driving range for practice, and I never change them after a round before heading in for a beer. You could say my requirements are broad.
I have settled with G/Fore as a shoe brand because they cover all of my requirements without being stupidly expensive and have never let me down. The first big win for these Gallivan2r shoes is the out-of-the-box comfort. My playing partners (who don’t wear G/Fore) were nervous about me putting on a brand new pair of shoes to go straight out and play in, but I had no issue as usual, and I remained comfy in the shoes the whole time.

The weather has been fairly good recently for the UK, but I have worn these out to play in the rain, and I have been really pleased with the traction performance. The G/Lock technology cleats combo with tourflexpro Softspikes have kept me really stable and upright all of the time, which is amazing for someone who deals with chronic back foot slipping (not the good Scottie Scheffler type either|).
These are a year-round golf shoes, When you buy them now they are bright and summery and can be worn nicely with shorts, but will keep up performance in the wet and soft. I really like how versatile they are.
The G/Fore Gallivan2r G/Lock Saddle golf shoes come in a full black option as well, which is great for the player who thinks white shoes are too bright. I really like how they have the appearance of that classic leather shoe we all, as golfers, recognise but are just technically better and easier to wear.
One of my favourite parts of owning these shoes is how easy the aftercare is with them. They are made from a waterproof TPU material, which just needs a wipe down to keep clean after play, and they have an odour-inhibiting textile lining, which has been a huge victory for me and the passengers in my car. I have managed to keep them relatively pristine with very minimal effort after quite a number of rounds.
As you can probably tell, I have pretty much worn these golf shoes for every round of golf I have played since receiving them. I have a wonderful G/Fore shoe collection growing now and these have gone to the top of my list as preferred to play in and wear. I really love my pair of Gallivanter G/Lock shoes that are full leather, but these are lighter and a bit more flexible with the flex channels throughout the sole, which I just prefer. This is of course just my personal preference, I did give those Gallivanter shoes a glowing review also.
