First Impressions
I am a huge fan of their sleek design – a blend of traditional golf shoe looks combined with modern refinement. Lighter than expected for such a supportive golf shoe, this shoe is available in a range of colour options and is fully customisable with options to personalise everything from colour and traction systems through to embroidery – with this flexibility available, whether you’re aiming for a classic shoe look or a more modern feel, these shoes can fit the bill.

On Course Testing
I was a huge fan of the old FootJoy DryJoy Tour golf shoes, which, despite being discontinued a few years ago, still occasionally pop up on eBay and trigger my alert system. They were firm and excellent shoes for my swing requirements, I was pretty sad to see them go. The Premiere Series look to have replaced them, and I have been looking forward to taking them out on the course for a spin to see if they compare to my old faithfuls.
Performance support from a golf shoe starts with the connection to the ground – the Packard features a stability-enhancing sole. FootJoy have called VersaTrax+, which they believe offers 360 degrees of traction to support forces that come from any direction.
This sole undoubtedly provides enhanced grip, supporting the maintenance of balance during your swing. This feature is crucial for contributing to
maintaining consistency in your shots, particularly in unpredictable weather conditions. Under testing in wet conditions, the shoe allowed no slippage or lateral slide which can be a cause for concern for some.
In addition, FootJoy describe “advanced cushioning technology” as part of the shoes features and undoubtedly as you take the first few steps, there is a sense of “give” as you stride away which can only help support the lower limbs and prevent tiredness the longer your round continues.
The 19th hole
The Packard is also multi-purpose, great on the course, but given its premium design, is equally as attractive in other settings – either in the clubhouse, at events or even other social settings where the well-crafted fine leather appearance and styling will blend nicely with its surroundings.
