PXG has once again stepped back into the zero-torque putter market with the Bat Attack ZT, building on the momentum created by the well-received PXG Allan. With a familiar shape and a refined feel, the Bat Attack ZT aims to help keep the face of the putter square through impact. The uniquely designed S-Hosel also helps this and is probably something you’ve never experienced on a putter before.

NCG SUMMARY

PXG’s Bat Attack ZT is a brilliant addition to the ever-growing category of zero-torque putters. Being a fanged putter, it is a shape golfers already trust and delivers improved stability, feel, and forgiveness. Although I’m not totally convinced about the grip, the rest of the putter is very good.

If you’re looking to gain confidence on short putts and improve overall consistency without switching to something too radical, this is a model that’s absolutely worth trying.

First Impressions

At address, the Bat Attack ZT does look fairly familiar. Its fang-like profile channels the popular “No. 7” or fang shape made famous by Odyssey and Scotty Cameron. I think PXG’s execution of it is clean and does provide a confidence-inspiring look. The black finish and well-placed sight dot on the top rail create a modern, uncluttered look that makes alignment intuitive.

While the appearance might feel familiar, the engineering behind it is anything but standard.

NCG Verdict

PXG’s take on a zero torque putter does come with a twist. Unlike some zero-torque designs that use an exaggerated offset or centre-shafted hosel, PXG has opted for a bent hosel that enters the heel in a more traditional manner. As a result the face that sits noticeably ahead of the shaft, something that takes a little getting used to, but does improve the stability.

This zero-torque design is intended to reduce face twisting during the stroke, particularly on shorter putts. While it’s not a miracle fix for every putter stroke, it does provide a more stable platform that helps resist the tendency to open or close the face, especially when the pressure is cranked up.

PXG Bat Attack ZT Putter Review

I thought where the Bat Attack ZT really shone was its feel. PXG has incorporated its refined pyramid face pattern, which promotes a consistent ball speed and a pleasing, soft sound. It’s not too soft or too firm; instead, it strikes a rare balance that feels both high-end and reliable.

Complementing this is PXG’s S COR technology. The putter’s hollow steel body is filled with a proprietary polymer that not only dampens vibrations but also redistributes weight for forgiveness. This construction allows PXG to keep the face thin for better feel, while also enhancing overall performance. Simply, I am firmly of the belief that the Bat Attack ZT feels as good as it looks.

PXG Bat Attack ZT Putter Review

Inside five feet, like many zero torque putters, the Bat Attack ZT excelled. The stability made short putts feel almost automatic. On longer putts, the putter continues to perform well, with easy alignment and consistent roll. Even for golfers who have struggled with zero-torque models in the past, this putter’s traditional shape and improved aim ability could prove to be a game-changer.

Final Verdict

Overall, I think the PXG Bat Attack ZT is a standout performer in the zero-torque category. Its classic shape, innovative design, and exceptional feel make it a really good option for all club golfers. While I have my doubts over the grip, the overall package is undeniably of high quality.
