This is a high performing driver that is a great for club golfers. An extremely forgiving club that performs particularly well on off-centred strikes from across the club face.
An easy to hit club that offers plenty of launch from an appealing profile at address. This combined with a long and light driver head delivers a performance package that will suit a range of golfers.

First Impressions
The good news for you Ping fans is that this driver still looks like a Ping with its classic modelling. Since its introduction the Ping G series hasn’t changed its design much, the turbulators, shape and sole design are all still evident in the G440 range.
A great addition, however, is the carbon wrap on all three models for 2025. This makes the drivers so much better than those with a titanium driver head, which has allowed Ping to add a heavy tungsten weight at the back of the club moveable into three different positions, increasing forgiveness and launch.
It also has a shorter face, from bottom to top, than the G430 thinning out the face without compromising the strength. This makes the face flex more to boast the ball speed.
The elongated design also suited my eye at address and felt comfortable when stood over the ball. That extra length is designed to be confidence inspiring for all golfers in being to launch the ball in the air with a greater ease.
NCG Verdict
Something I noticed instantly when testing this driver is just how forgiving and easy to hit it is. This makes it really fun to use and in honesty feels like a cheat code because I am able to swing it so fast whilst launching it high into the air on every shot.

Additionally, another thing I was really pleased with was how well the off-centre strikes performed. Throughout testing I hit countless shots from across the face of the driver as most of us amateur golfers tend to and the performance was still really good.
Impressively I never seem to get a destructive shot from the face of this driver. Usually when I hit the ball out of the toe with a low shining driver I find the spin drops off and I hit a hook shot. I just didn’t get that with this Ping G440 MAX driver which is a huge nod towards the technology Ping have included in the construction of this driver.
An interesting piece of technology in the Ping G440 drivers is the free hosel design, which has seen a considerable amount of weight and material removed from where the shaft tip slots into the head. This makes the heel side of the face flex better for better ball speeds, off heel strikes and also makes it the lightest head Ping have released.
I was really happy with the numbers I was seeing on the trackman, considering it was -3°. A 264 yard carry of an 105mph ball speed was pleasing, the spin rate on most of the shots was nice sitting at around 2200rpm which is right in the sweet spot of where I would want it to optimise distance.
This driver sounds considerably better than the Ping G425 which, in my option, sounded like a pan upon impact. This, however, sounds a lot more classic and has a slight adjustment from the G430 which was universally loved on the PGA Tour over the last year.
In comparison to those previous Ping drivers, there is a considerable and evident improvement. There is loads more tech in the G440, the head is significantly lighter, it’s more forgiving than any G series driver and is hotter than any Ping driver I have tested.
Overall, I was extremely impressed with the Ping G440 MAX driver. It’s performance on off-centre strikes was phenomenal, its long out the centre of the face and its still straight out of the rest of the face.
For those golfers who don’t practice much and are more of a weekend warrior then this is the perfect driver. I felt like I couldn’t hit a bad shot with it. There aren’t many better qualities to have in a driver than turning up to the golf course after a week or two of no golf and still have full confidence in the big stick.
I think the Ping G440 MAX driver is a really high performing option. I found it easy to swing quickly, it felt great off the face and its straight. I’m sure the dispersion range will be better than most golf club golfers will have experienced before with their driver.

La Cala Resort
We were fortunate enough to head out to the La Cala Resort in Spain to conduct some of our equipment reviews. A picturesque resort that is located in the Sierra de Mijas, just 30 minutes from Málaga Airport and 20 minutes from Marbella.
