At first glance the 2026 Callaway Chrome Tour X doesn’t look much different to previous models. Performance wise it held up to previous high standards of maximum spin with wedges and irons and a strong distance and ball speed performance off the tee.

First Impressions
Callaway does a great job packaging wise distinguishing between each type of ball. The Chrome Tour X has a black/grey colourway, in almost identical packaging to the previous year’s model.
The ball itself looks identical to any of the other models, keeping the brands uniform hexagonal dimple look.
Test results
To start with, the ball looks great, feels excellent off the clubface, and rolls smoothly off the putter. With no visible seam, the Chrome Tour X provided exceptional consistency for me and my short game, regardless of where I struck the ball on the club face.
Before hitting the Chrome Tour X, I gathered some baseline data with my SkyTrak using my regular ball a Titleist Pro V1x. Going straight into hitting wedges with the Chrome Tour X the spin rate dramatically increased. I went from an average of 6698 RPM with Pro V1x to an impressive 7302 RPM, with some reaching 7733 rpm! The launch angles or carry distances didn’t alter much from my standard numbers so extra spin was welcomed.
With a 7-iron, the Chrome Tour X continued to impress. My average spin rate reached 5694 RPM, which averaged 500 RPM more than my regular ball. In terms of carry distance, I would say this is a little less than I usually average but only by a few yards.
Off the tee, the Chrome Tour X performed well. With a ball speed of 137 mph and a spin rate of 2,133 RPM, this ball provided an optimal balance of speed and control. I was happy with the carry distance at an average of 232 yards with my best pushing 240, all which had a solid dispersion.

NCG Verdict
Overall, I enjoyed testing the Callaway Chrome Tour X. I was very impressed with the increased amount of spin with wedges and irons as promised by Callaway.
If you’re seeking elite-level control, high spin, and premium feel, the Callaway Chrome Tour X golf ball should be at the top of your list.
