Motocaddy Pro Series Cart Bag review: First Impressions

In some ways there is less to be said about out and out cart bags than most other bags. They have one function and therefore do not have to compromise on size and weight. The Motocaddy Pro-series on first glance is a terrific looking bag. It is primarily black with some tasteful stripes in areas and blue trim (lime and red also available). I actually had some fun seeking out the multitude of features for myself prior to reading the specs which are comprehensive.

Motocaddy Pro Series Cart Golf Bag review: NCG Verdict

The top of the bag is 400 x 440 mm and has 14 full-length dividers, which are fairly standard now on quality bags. They do help to prevent the irritating tangling of club shafts of old. There is a separate putter well which will accommodate the beefiest of oversized putter grips. It is made from premium PU and nylon fabrics, and the contrast of matt and gloss areas make it an attractive and modern-looking bag.

It has nine pockets in total. On each side, there are two large pockets and a smaller dry valuables pocket which is a nice touch. The three pockets on the front are a typical layout for this bag, with the lowermost being the largest. The middle pocket is a cool pocket for food and drink and has a natty, rigid design to it. It also has an internal umbrella sleeve.

There are further features such as a towel/accessory ring, pen holder, score-card pocket, umbrella sleeve, integrated top and bottom carry handles and cool drinks pouch. The hood that it comes with is rain-proof. So, while not waterproof, the bag will likely get you through a wet round relatively unscathed (I was fortunate enough to use this during a long dry spell).

As with what seems to be on all current Motocaddy models, it has the Easilock ™ system. These are pegs in the anti-twist bag base at the bottom of the bag, which securely attaches to any Motocaddy trolley, obviating the need for a lower strap. The logo at the top is on a strap pass-through loop giving it a nice clean look. The recessed base will allow it to sit nicely on other trolley brands.

I used this on a Motocaddy trolley, and it was rock solid with the Easilock system. It was an extremely hot day, and it is a real pleasure to be able to carry plenty of fluid with you. In many regards, I think this is when cart bags are most useful, in extreme weather conditions. The pockets are rigid and have two zips making opening and closing them painless. They also open to nearly the full depth of the pocket, which makes the furthest recesses of the large pocket somewhat more accessible.

A large cart bag, fully loaded for all contingencies, is a pleasure. This Motocaddy cart bag has everything you could need for a stress-free round and pairs perfectly with Motocaddy’s trolley range.
