Toulon may be a relatively new brand in the putter market but it is far from a new name. Sean Toulon has worked in the golf industry for a number of years now with the likes of Callaway and TaylorMade. He has now started Toulon Golf and has released the Toulon Hollywood H1 2025 Putter. This is as pure of a putter as you’ll find on the market, but how does it perform out on the golf course? Find out in our full review…

Toulon Hollywood H1 2025 Putter Review: First Impressions

At first glance, the Hollywood H1 impressed me with its sleek, all-black finish. The combination of a black head, shaft, and grip is both striking and understated. It boasts a true blade design, meticulously constructed with no alignment aids apart from a single, subtle white dot on the top line. This choice of design is a nod to the vintage era of putters, offering a clean look that purists will appreciate.

NCG Verdict

Performance-wise, I found the Hollywood H1 shone on the greens. Equipped with a Deep Diamond face milling pattern, the putter had a soft yet crisp feel on each putt. This milling process is engineered to enhance sound and feedback, allowing golfers to sense the quality of their strike with every putt.

I was also impressed with the consistency across the face. Even putts that I didn’t quite strike cleanly or possibly slightly off-centre still rolled smoothly and on target.

One of the most surprising elements of the Hollywood H1 I thought is the alignment lines or lack of them. This is a bold choice that I think actually promotes better focus on start lines. Removing alignment aids weirdly encouraged me to trust my stroke mechanics, resulting in purer rolls and fewer misreads. It also refined my approach, particularly on longer putts.

When it comes to tech the tri-soul design of the sole is another standout feature. Crafted with three distinct facets, it allows the putter to sit perfectly square at address, enhancing consistency.

I am also under the belief that the design is refreshingly free of excessive branding, with minimal text and logos, focusing purely on craftsmanship rather than commercial flair. It’s clear that Toulon Golf aimed for understated elegance, and they achieved it flawlessly.

Final Verdict

Overall, the Toulon Hollywood H1 2025 Putter is a great addition to the Toulon range. Its vintage-inspired design, exceptional craftsmanship, and superb feel make it a standout option for those willing to invest in quality. For the purist seeking an elegant blade putter with modern enhancements, the Hollywood H1 is an undeniable winner.

About the author

Callaway Epic Max driver review
Jack Backhouse

A member of the PGA for 13 years, Jack has lived golf for more than half his life. Inspired by Tiger Wood’s winning putt at the 2008 US Open, an obsession began with watching slow motion golf swings on the internet and reading What’s In The Bag articles in magazines.

Not destined for a life behind the desk in a pro shop, Jack has focussed more on coaching, working closely with regional teams in North Yorkshire and helping golfers of all levels on their journey to enjoying playing the game more. Jack has coached many junior golfers into the county teams, and once worked with a player at the 2018 Open Championship at Carnoustie.

After letting his game fall apart prior to COVID, Jack rediscovered his love for playing golf after joining Silloth Golf Club in 2020 and whipping round the windy, firm links course. Playing regularly with a half set of clubs he has a passion for shot making and developing skill, and claims to have the sharpest 30-100 yard game in the North of England (only because he doesn’t know anyone in the South), and now maintains a +1 handicap at a club much closer to home, Sand Moor GC.

Jack has always tinkered with his equipment, once building his own Frankenstein one length set of clubs after watching Bryson DeChambeau burst onto the scene after winning the US Amateur. He firmly believes in getting custom fit and is happy to debate anyone about blade irons being superior to any other iron category.

Jack loves: playing quickly, 2 ball golf, match play, heathland courses, pencil bags, foursomes, Tiger Wood’s swing 2005-2009.

Jack hates: buggies, unnecessary trees, giving shots, the 7 iron loft debate, graphite shaft lovers weird superiority complex.
