Ping is back for 2026 with a series of their Scottsdale putters. A fresh new look, see’s the putter’s in a white finish. I’ve been trying the Scottsdale TEC Ketsch – a mallet option. Instead of claiming “zero torque,” PING focuses on what they call “Onset,” which aims to improve stability and control. They’ve also used research from their Loughborough HQ, incorporating “Quiet Eye” technology. Basically, a small dot on the top of the putter to help golfers keep their focus during the stroke.

How did I find it? Will it end up in my bag? Let’s delve into my full Ping Scottsdale TEC Ketsch Putter review to find out…

NCG SUMMARY

Ping has just launched their new Scottsdale Tec putter range. This collection reimagines some of their most popular designs and shapes. And, they’re already being used by Tony Finau, Viktor Hovland and Billy Horsel.

The Ketsch Onset putter has a long alignment line, teamed with a dot focal point. This is Ping’s Eye-Q technology and is designed to quieten golfers’ eyes over the ball – giving a stable fixation point. A one piece PEBAX face insert offers a soft feel off the face and a quiet sound.

PROS

  • Strong alignment system
  • Looks great
  • Forgiving
  • Good distance control

CONS

  • Soft face insert won’t be for everyone

First Impressions

Straight out of the box, I did not expect to see a white ping putter! This is real design change for Ping and one that I think really helps to distinguish this range from the others.

Ping has released a whole range of Scottsdale TEC putters that keep the same head shapes as their already popular models.

The white head design is teamed with a long black alignment line and two short lines to help frame the ball. A dot focal point has been added to the top – this is Eye-Q technology.

The face is a one piece PEBAX insert and the centre shaft is set to provide a full face view – as part of Ping’s low torque Onset design.

A sturdy synthetic leather headcover has a plush inner with a double magnetic fastening.

NCG Verdict

At first I was unsure on the white head design, I can’t say it’s something I’ve ever had before. Taking it out on the course for the first time the white headed design grew on me very quickly when I started lining the ball up. The bold alignment line made framing the ball at address very easy. The dot focal point located above the face at the top of the putter is Ping’s Eye-Q technology. This helps a player to have a fixation point when over the ball to quieten the eyes. Now this might sound like a fad but I really did find myself more focused over putts.

This putter is one of two Onset putters offered in the new Scottsdale Tec putter range. This is the low torque option where the shaft is positioned to provide a full face view at address. I wouldn’t say it’s as exposing as that sounds but it does sit nicely. The face has a one piece PEBAX insert. This offers a soft feel and sound off of the face. I already use a putter with a face insert so this was a nice familiar feeling but it depends on your personal preference.

Ping has reduced weighings in the face meaning that it can be optimised in other areas to increase the MOI. I found that this putter was pretty forgiving in terms of poor strikes. Not much distance was lost from long range. I’ve actually holed lots of putts with this putter so far, I think mainly down to the confidence it’s given with my alignment.

I can’t forget to mention the Super Stroke grip. I really like this edition, it’s a nice size and shaping – nothing extreme on either end so will suit a lot of players.

Final Verdict

Overall, this is a great mallet putter option from Ping. There’s no wonder Tony Finau, Viktor Hovland and Billy Horsel have all been spotted with one in their bag – I know it will certainly be staying in my bag!
