A trend is occurring in the world of golf, as seemingly more golfers are turning towards custom fitting to find the set of clubs that suit them best. Manufacturers are also leaning into custom fitting more, making their clubs easier to fit to individual preferences – exactly what the new Cobra DS-Adapt drivers aim to do.

It looks as though Cobra Golf have jumped to the front to lead the way in this field after their latest driver launch for 2025. In their new line-up, the DS-Adapt range, Cobra have released their longest and most fittable drivers yet.

As part of their new range, four new drivers are available. The DS-Adapt LS is their fastest driver with a lower spinning club head, the DS-Adapt X is more forgiving fast speed driver, the DS-Adapt MAX-K is the most forgiving driver and the DS-Adapt MAX-D is a draw biased driver.

What makes these drivers so fittable and how will it help your game? Let’s take a look…

Cobra DS-Adapt Drivers: The Technology

It’s all about FutureFit33. Don’t worry, I’m not about to lecture you on a revolutionary fitness program, but rather a revolutionary club fitting technology.

FutureFit33 is Cobra’s new hosel system designed to optimise flight and loft angle tuning for a more suitable driver to a golfer’s swing. Additionally, changing the loft degree of the driver won’t affect the lie angle with this hosel system.

The introduction of this new technology is designed to make fittings a breeze for everyone. With 33 different settings available, the most out of any golf club manufacturer, golfers will be fit into the most accurate driver setting yet that will promote a consistent ball flight and distances off the tee.

The graph above shows the different settings a golfer can be fit into. I promise I’m not being facetious when I say it’s not as complicated as it looks.

During the fitting process all golfers will start at A1 and their natural ball flight will dictate as to what setting they are fitted into. For golfers who tend to have a high ball flight and a tendency to slice the ball, then they are likely to be fitted into F2/G1.

This system also gives golfers room to improve their swing. Settings can be changed and adapted to accommodate different swings.

Other technological additions include extreme aero shaping, adaptive weighting technology and H.O.T technology.

Cobra have refined the shape of their driver heads with advanced aerodynamics. Golf brands are constantly battling to find away to streamline the clubs more effectively to increase club head and reduce drag. Cobra have made a number of changes to promote a more aerodynamic driver head, including adding a higher crown peak to avoid delays separation as well as a smoother curvature.

Cobra DS-Adapt drivers

A softer leading edge, reduced hosel height, brand new heel area and a more round head shape are amongst aerodynamic changes made to help get golfers hitting the ball further. The LS and X models are more aerodynamic whilst the MAX drivers have a lower CG.

Elsewhere, the new H.O.T Face technology has improved the launch, distance and ball speed. It consists of an Optimized Variable Thickness Design, resulting in an improved face flex and robust launch conditions.

Adaptive weighting tech is Cobra’s adjustable weighting system. Introduced to help position the centre of gravity where it needs to be depending of the golfer’s swing and ball flight. Each driver has a different position of CG. The LS option is the lowest and most forward CG, the X is similarly low and forward, whilst the MAX-K obtains a low/back CG and the MAX-D’s is positioned near the heel.

Positively for higher handicap golfers especially, the face of the driver is promoted to be kept square to the face at impact, regardless of loft & lie setting, thanks to their Smartpad technology. The club head also remains square when sitting on the ground.

The Smartpad technology is made up of an area of sole where driver sits at address and aligns the center of gravity of the shaft and clubhead. This tech helps to keep the club face square at address.

About the author

Max Mcvittie

A bit of a late bloomer to the game of golf, Max fell in love with the sport when he attended Saturday coaching sessions down at his local golf club after being inspired by friends and family members.

Max has remained a member of Eden Golf Club in Carlisle for a number of years now as he looks to get his handicap down into single figures. Most of his golfing career has been spent battling a permanent slice off the tee, which has led to some ugly rounds.

Having studied at the University of Sunderland, Max is starting out his dream career in sports journalism. During his time at university, he picked up valuable work experience at Reach PLC, BBC Radio Cumbria and GiveMeSport, whilst also getting work published in the Teesside Live. He also spent time working at a local weekly newspaper, Eskdale and Liddesdale Advertiser, as a general news reporter partially covering some local sport just north of the border in Langholm.

Max has just started his journey with the NCG working as the assistant equipment editor. He looks forwarded to reviewing the latest golf equipment, taking up an interest in reviews when buying his first golf club, a Cleveland RTX wedge.

With his bag not going under too many changes throughout the last few years, Max carries an M3 driver, Titleist GT3 Fairway Wood, M2 hybrid, a set of M2 irons, Callaway Jaws wedges and a TaylorMade Spider putter. And yes, Max is a bit of a self-proclaimed TaylorMade fan boy.
