This is the latest generation of the Mizuno JPX 925 irons which they believe deliver performance and precision to set a new standard of forged golf irons.

Let’s take a look at what technological advancements combine with the desired Mizuno feel to create these performance benefits…

Mizuno JPX 925 Forged Irons: The Technology

These irons are built for the modern golfer as Mizuno believe they have merged the explosive distances associated with the Mizuno Hot Metal Series and the top level feel of their forged irons. This is as a result of the Cortech design at the core of the JPX 925 forged irons which features a Contour Ellipse face.

This technology has seen the introduction of multi-material thickness across the club face profile. Ultimately, this design helps to enhance ball speed and ensure consistent performance from both on and off-centred strikes.

As for the feel of the irons, Mizuno’s Grain Flow Forged HD process helps deliver this ultimate feedback and feel. This process is included in the construction of these irons with the longer irons, 4-7, being forged from a Chromoly 4120 material.

Mizuno have used this material as it helps to promote greater speed and adjustability. Practically, this helps with long approach or tee shots as it allows for better distances and variation of shot types.

Shorter irons, 8-GW, are forged from 1025E Pure Select Mild Carbon Steel. Most golfers require more control, accuracy and a softer feel with their more lofted irons as it will help with creativity with approach shots into greens.

Additionally, Mizuno’s Triple Cut Sole is included to enhance the turf interaction of the irons. This enhancement supplies these forged irons with more versatility and variability across different lies and course conditions. Even on more challenging surfaces the sole paired with the balanced weighting still allows the irons to promote precise control.

Each iron has a gentle sloping leading edge for a cleaner entry in the turf for a smoother strike and a hard-cut trailing edge to ensure an uninterrupted ball contact.

Mizuno have also made another change to the range with this line-up as they are offering the new irons in two finishes; a traditional chrome and a forged black finish.

About the author

Max Mcvittie

A bit of a late bloomer to the game of golf, Max fell in love with the sport when he attended Saturday coaching sessions down at his local golf club after being inspired by friends and family members.

Max has remained a member of Eden Golf Club in Carlisle for a number of years now as he looks to get his handicap down into single figures. Most of his golfing career has been spent battling a permanent slice off the tee, which has led to some ugly rounds.

Having studied at the University of Sunderland, Max is starting out his dream career in sports journalism. During his time at university, he picked up valuable work experience at Reach PLC, BBC Radio Cumbria and GiveMeSport, whilst also getting work published in the Teesside Live. He also spent time working at a local weekly newspaper, Eskdale and Liddesdale Advertiser, as a general news reporter partially covering some local sport just north of the border in Langholm.

Max has just started his journey with the NCG working as the assistant equipment editor. He looks forwarded to reviewing the latest golf equipment, taking up an interest in reviews when buying his first golf club, a Cleveland RTX wedge.

With his bag not going under too many changes throughout the last few years, Max carries an M3 driver, Titleist GT3 Fairway Wood, M2 hybrid, a set of M2 irons, Callaway Jaws wedges and a TaylorMade Spider putter. And yes, Max is a bit of a self-proclaimed TaylorMade fan boy.
