Introduction

Navee is a relatively new name in the golf world, but not a new name in technology.

Founded in 2021, the company originally built its reputation developing electric scooters, e-bikes and personal transportation systems designed for everyday use. Their focus has always been on electric motors, battery systems, and intelligent tracking technology.

In 2025, they branched out in the world of golf with the Birdie 3 Remote controlled electric trolley and now they’ve gone a step further launching the Birdie 3X Follow.

With a big reputation in the tech world, how does the Navee Birdie 3X Follow trolley perform? Nicola Slater put it to the test to find out…

NCG SUMMARY

The standout feature of the NAVEE Birdie 3X is the follow mode. By changing the function on the display the trolley follows the remote than you can attach onto a pocket or waistband.

The system reacts in real time to your movement, speeding up, slowing down, and adjusting direction as you play. Alongside follow mode, it also offers remote control and manual assist, giving flexibility depending on the situation.

In terms of build, it feels solid and practical, with a clear display, USB-C charging, dual motors, a wide wheelbase, and an anti-tip rear wheel designed to improve stability on slopes and uneven ground. It also folds down quickly into a compact size for transport and storage.

Key benefits and downsides

Key benefitsDownsides
Follow mode – Setting this feature up is quick and simple, with the press of one button the LED display shows an ‘F’ and you’re good to go.Can struggle with follow on steeper inclines – whilst on flat ground the Birdie 3X excels, the signal can struggle on those steeper inclines.
Folds down small – Not only is the Birdie 3X simple to fold down but also goes to a compact size, with reversible wheels.
Free app subscription – 12 months free subscription to Hole 19 app with every trolley.
Simple design– The display doesn’t overwhelm you with information, letting the other tech shine through.

First Impressions

On the golf course, there’s a lot to think about—your stance, your swing, your shot. What you don’t need to be thinking about is your clubs. And, that’s where the NAVEE Birdie 3X immediately stands out.

At first glance, it looks like a modern, well-built electric trolley and very match matches the design of the Birdie 3 model. It has a sturdy frame, a clean handle-mounted display, and a design that feels solid rather than overly complicated.

Despite the technology packed into it, nothing feels overdone. The display is simple and easy to read, showing key information like speed levels, battery life, and operating mode without overwhelming you during a round. The LED screen also works in sunlight so no matter how bright it is you’ll still be able to read the display.

It also includes a USB-C charging, which can be useful for keeping a phone or GPS device topped up during play. Especially as you get a free 12 month subscription to Hole 19, a GPS app, that’s with £59.99!

Below the handle is a handy mesh pouch, I’ve found this to be a great place to put the remote between uses.

How I undertook the review

I’ve been lucky enough to use a Navee Birdie 3X Follow trolley many times over the last few months, including attending their media day at Alwoodley Golf Club. I’ve used at West Hill golf club, in Surrey as well as a few others so I’ve certainly put it through its paces on a mix of different terrains.

Follow Mode technology

The standout feature of the Birdie 3X is its follow function- this is where the remote connects to the trolley. Pressing a single button on the display, once the ‘F’ is displayed you’re good to go. The trolley then follows the signal of the remote which can be attached to the back of the golfer, on their waistband or back pocket.

The Birdie 3X doesn’t follow you in the traditional forward movement, instead it turns around and goes rear wheels first. At first this looks very unconventional but it’s actually a very clever design from Navee, giving the trolley the best stability.

The follow function is very responsiveness. If you speed up, it speeds up. If you slow down, stop, or change direction, it reacts in real time, adjusting smoothly to stay in position behind you. Having watched it, it doesn’t just follow in a straight line as it is continuously adapts to your movements.

I found the follow mode to work really well but when heading up steeper inclines it sometimes struggled to locate the remote. This is just something to bare in mind but the remote controlled function would be a great alternative to use in this situation.

On the Course

As well as being able to use the follow function, the Navee Birdie 3X can also be used manually with the handles. This uses an assisted power mode, where you hold in the red paddles on the handle as you push to get the trolley moving forwards.

The Birdie 3X can also be handled using the rechargeable remote control that operates the follow function. This is very lightweight and sits nice in your hand. The buttons are clearly labelled and react instantly.

Handle and display screen

The handle design is very simple, not overwhelming you with information. This makes a lot of sense as the trolley handle will generally not be in front of you.

The HD LED screen does however display the 1-9 speed setting as well as the mode it’s in and battery life. Next to the screen is a Type C charging port so you charge any device that you need during the round.

Battery and storage

The Navee Birdie 3X runs dual motors. As standard it comes with a 36 hole battery so you don’t need to charge after every round. This sit nicely into the trolley framework and can easily be removed by releasing a catch.

Getting the Birdie 3X up and down is actually very straight forward, which is a huge win when it comes to golf trollies. It folds down to a very respectable size that I can safely say will sit well in any car boot. In addition, you can reverse the wheels to save even more space.

I found compared to a lot of other remote/follow electric trollies the Navee Birdie 3X seemed to be a lot lighter weighing 15.2kg without a battery and 17.2kg with one.

Final thoughts

Overall, the Navee Birdie 3X delivers on its promise of hands-free golf, with a follow mode that works smoothly and quickly on the course. Whilst it may struggle on some high gradient slopes, the remote feature is excellent and can be used throughout your round.

It’s easy to both assemble and unassemble as well as not being overly heavy and folding down to a very respectable sizing.

The Birdie 3X offers golfer a chance to experience a hands free trolley experience at a respectable price.
