Sun Mountain Two5 Plus carry bag review: First Impressions
Look at that glow! If you’ve got a new piece of kit, then why wouldn’t you want to show it off? I love the boldness of this bag. I got my hands on the black/atomic design, and it’s one of my favourite designs of any golf bag I’ve tested. The glow of the atomic green is nicely balanced out by the contrasting black along the sides of the bag, which stops the high-vis style colour become too overwhelming.

The 2.5+ carry bag from Sun Mountain is the perfect companion for winter golf. Its best feature is undoubtedly how lightweight it is. It only weighs 1.3kg, and it’s made using tightly woven nylon fabric. It’s also got dual recessed carbon fibre legs which look gorgeous.
Additionally, the bag is also fully waterproof, so don’t worry about using this piece of hardware in the pouring rain. There’s also a matching rain hood included with the bag to offer total waterproof protection for your clubs.
It has a 9″ top with four pockets to protect your clubs. The only downside to the pockets were two of them were full width ones, which means less organisation for irons. I do prefer more pockets over less in this department as I’m a fan of segregating my clubs so I know where to find them easily. I only carry 11 clubs usually, and there was no issue with fitting them all in, but if you prefer carrying the maximum of 14 clubs there may be issues here.
The bag uses an X-strap dual strap system, so it’s straightforward to get your clubs on and off your back. The straps are also made with high-density foam shoulder pads, so it’s pretty comfortable to carry around the golf course. The strap also attaches to the top of the bag, resulting in greater balance and easier carrying.

There are five pockets in total, one of which is a fleece like velour-lined valuables pocket and another being a full-length clothing pocket. They’re all deep, but the zips on them do feel tight when the pockets are loaded. Lots of golfers like to pack their bags full to the brim, so this could become a stumbling block down the line.
However, I did manage to pack a lot in here. I got a complete set of waterproofs, my snood and a drink in the large side pocket, with six balls in the bottom front pocket, my notepad in the non-zip pocket to the side of that, a handful of tee pegs in the pocket above where my balls went, and my wallet in the fleece-lined valuables pocket on the other side of the bag. There’s also a handy little section just below the carry handle to slot four tee pegs to go in if you’re struggling for room in the pockets.
The bag is branded as an ultra-lightweight stand bag, but I tested it twice: once carrying it and the other time I put it on the back of a buggy. It looked superb and by no means out of place on the buggy, which a lot of pencil bags do.
Overall I have been really impressed with the performance and feature-packed characteristics of this bag and it isn’t just a perfect option for golfers to use during the winter but all year round too.
