MacGregor Mac 14.0 Cart Bag: First Impressions

I can’t say that MacGregor has ever been a brand that I’ve chosen to use and that’s mainly due to being a brand snob. I’ve always viewed MacGregor stuff as being cheaper and so not as good. I’m not actually sure that being cheaper is a bad thing when everything new is going up in price. If anything, I think this price point is great for beginner players or those who don’t wish to invest loads in golf gear.

The bag that I used was in a smart looking all black with all of the wording in white. MacGregor offers this style of bag in four other colourways so there are some slightly brighter options available too.

Feel wise, the material of the bag isn’t that thick but it does claim to be lightweight and so this is most likely why.

MacGregor Mac 14.0 Cart Bag: NCG Review

I tested the MacGregor Mac 14.0 cart bag on the Mactec push trolley to see how the pair worked together. I found that the bag stayed in place great, and I didn’t really ever have to adjust its placement. No doubt that this was partially down to the trolley’s handy bungee straps but also partially to do with the firm well-designed base of the bag.

I was really impressed with how much storage space this bag had. Overall there are nine pockets of variable sizes. The front pocket was the largest I’ve ever come across on a cart bag and above that is a rather spacious cooling pouch.

Impressively there were two umbrella holders on this bag, one at the back and one at the front. I don’t often like my umbrella on the bottom side of my bag as it can interfere with how it sits on a trolley and so I really liked the placing on the front.

When it came to transporting this bag, the large padded strap down the back was very comfortable and useful. There was also a smaller handle located on the back of the bag but for the purpose of moving it in and out of a car, a front handle would have also been a useful addition.
