The PGA Tour golf roadshow moves south of the border this week with the Mexico Open at Vidanta, but who are our betting tips for glory?

Following a three-shot win last year, Tony Finau will be looking to defend his title. However, there are plenty of challengers for the crown at Vidant Vallarta this week.

Who will win? Matt Coles takes a look at this week’s action…

Don’t forget to scroll all the way to the bottom of this piece for a great sign-up offer from bet365!

Mexico Open at Vidanta golf betting tips and preview

Venue: Vidanta Vallarta, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
Date: February 22-25, 2024
Course stats: Par 71, 7,456 yards
Defending champion: Tony Finau (-24)

Emiliano Grillo @ 20/1 with bet365

Argentine Emiliano Grillo has been trending in the right direction in the last few weeks, with four top-25 finishes in his six events so far in 2024.

He has seven top-tens since the start of last year, including a victory at the Charles Schwab Challenge. Grillo came home in the top five in Mexico last year. Don’t be surprised to see the Argentine at the top of the leaderboard this week.

Brandon Wu @ 33/1 with bet365

This is a selection that might surprise a few people, with Brandon Wu having struggled over the last year. He only has three top-ten finishes since the start of 2023.

Brandon Wu golf betting tips

However, the American is returning to a golf course he loves. Wu finished T2 at the inaugural Mexico Open on the PGA Tour in 2022, before then finishing 3rd last year. Could he top it off with a win this week at Vidanta?

What else is going on in the world of golf this week?

There is plenty of other action this week, with five more tournaments taking place over the course of the next seven days.

Following David Puig’s win as the Asian Tour got underway last week, we have the first International Series event of the year in Oman. There is also the Magical Kenya Open on the DP World Tour as well.

The Honda LPGA Thailand takes the LPGA Tour to Asia this week, with Lilia Vu aiming to defend her crown in Siam. Meanwhile, the Ladies European Tour and the PGA Champions Tour are both in Morocco.

The Lalla Meryem Cup (LET) and the Trophy Hassan II (CHT) will be played alongside each other at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam in Rabat.

Who will take victory at these tournaments? Check out our picks for success below…

International Series Oman golf betting tips and preview

Venue: Al Mouj Golf, Muscat, Oman
Date: February 22-25, 2024
Course stats: Par 72, 7,342 yards
Defending champion: Takumi Kanaya (-10)

Joaquin Niemann @ 6/1 with bet365

Joaquin Niemann

I don’t see how you can really bet against one of the most in-form golfers on the planet right now. With a win on the DP World Tour in December, and a win in LIV Golf earlier this month, Joaquin Niemann is rightly the favourite to win in Oman at 6/1.

NOW READ: What’s in Joaquin Niemann’s bag?

Matthew Wolff @ 30/1 with bet365

Following a tumultuous 2023 in the LIV Golf League, Wolff has started 2024 well, with a 4th placed finish at LIV Golf Las Vegas. He is 30/1 to grab a first victory in almost five years.

Amy Yang @ 20/1 to win the Honda LPGA Thailand with bet365

T45, Win, T3, Win, T14, Win, T3, T4, T34. Three wins and three other top five finishes in nine appearances at the Honda LPGA Thailand for Amy Yang. How can you bet against her doing it again this week and taking a fourth title?

Aaron Cockerill @ 33/1 to win the Magical Kenya Open with bet365

Aaron Cockerill has tow top-six finishes in his last four outings on the DP World Tour, including a T4 in a stacked field at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic. He also finished T2 at this event in 2022, so he knows the course. 33/1 says the Canadian grabs a first professional victory in Nairobi on Sunday.

Miguel Angel Jimenez @ 11/1 to win the Trophy Hassan II with bet365

Spaniards have found Morocco to be a happy hunting ground over the years, with Ignacio Garrido, Alejandro Canizares and Jorge Campillo among those to win in Rabat. Miguel Angel Jimenez is the fourth favourite at 11/1 to add to that list, this time on the PGA Champions Tour.

Nuria Iturrioz to win the Lalla Meryem Cup with bet365

Could we see a Spanish double in Morocco? Iturrioz is a two-time winner of the Lalla Meryem Cup, having been victorious at Dar Es Salem in both 2016 and 2019. I wouldn’t bet against her taking a third win this week.

Nuria Iturrioz golf betting tips

Odds are not yet available for the Lalla Meryem Cup, but as soon as they, we will update this page with the odds for Iturrioz to win.

Matt Coles

Mention a European country, and Matt will tell you which resorts make the National Club Golfer Top 100s: European Resorts list. He might even throw in who designed the golf course and how many rooms the hotel has got at each one…

Matt got into the game of golf from a young age, following his old man to the local golf club. He fell for the sport, and now can’t seem to go a day without thinking about how to improve his game (Thanks Dad!). Matt has been a member of Howley Hall GC in Leeds since 2020, and is just about managing to maintain a single-figure handicap. He likes to remind people that he once broke 75, but won’t tell people that it was on a shortened course during the winter.

He moved to Leeds after graduating from the University of Central Lancashire with a First Class Honours degree in Sports Journalism. Matt joined NCG after almost five years travelling the world with the Professional Squash Association, working on events in all four corners of the globe.

Matt currently plays a Cobra King LTDx driver and RadSpeed 3-wood. TaylorMade monopolise the rest of his bag, with a SIM UDI, M5 irons and both Milled Grind and HI-TOE wedges, along with a Monza Redline putter. He uses a Vice Pro Plus golf ball, because he’s a bit different…

Away from golf, Matt is a Manchester United fan, and a keen runner, having ran the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon (his first and possibly last), in May 2023.
