Lilia Vu: Player Profile

Who is Lilia Vu?

Lilia Vu is a two-time major champion, who made her breakthrough on the LPGA Tour in 2023 with a three-win season.

Vu was born in California, and began playing golf at the age of 7, when she first had her first set of clubs. She had a wonderful amateur career, and was a part of the American team at the Curtis Cup, Arnold Palmer Cup and the Espirito Santo Trophy, winning all three. She then went to UCLA, and won several individual awards, including WGCA Player of the Year and Pac-12 Conference Golfer of the Year.

She turned professional in 2019, ending a run at the top of the World Golf Amateur Rankings, but had to wait a couple of years before earning her first victory. After dropping back down to the Symetra Tour, she won three times in the space of four months, and finished top of the money list to move back up to the LPGA Tour.

She then waited until early 2023 before securing her first LPGA Tour victory, with that coming at the Honda LPGA Thailand. Later that year, Vu claimed her first major title, winning the Chevron Championship in a play-off. The American also won the AIG Women’s Open in the same season. Thanks to her incredible year in 2023, Vu catapulted herself into Team USA for the Solheim Cup in Andalucia, where she made her debut in the sport’s premiere women’s competition.
