Best Golf Gloves 2024

FootJoy StaSof Golf Glove

5 star review
best golf gloves 2023

They’ve been making the StaSof model for the best part of 40 years and it’s a premium product that sits just below their ultra-luxury Pure Touch glove. When you put on an FJ glove, there are certain things you just expect. A soft feel for a start, and the StaSof is like dousing your hand in silk thanks to the Cabretta leather. FootJoy say a “strategically positioned PowerNet mesh and perforations enhance breathability, flexibility and comfort”.

The FootJoy StaSof golf love really is an exceptional product. It’s fabulous to wear, great fitting, complements your club grip promoting a confident swing, and you can expect to wear it for the long haul. The breathable fabric will only come into its own as the days get warmer.

PROS

  • Cabretta leather provides an excellent feel.
  • Great grip and very true to size.
  • Looks like it will be in the bag for the long-haul.

CONS

  • Premium quality comes at a premium price.

Skins Golf Cabretta Leather golf glove

5 star review
best golf gloves 2023

Skins Golf are one of these new brands; born in 2022, they are on a mission to introduce style, creativity and charisma into cabretta leather golf gloves. Each glove offers a different design, with plenty to choose from. Other than the designs this is a great golf glove that for a leather glove handles the wet weather great. Mesh has been added between the fingers for added breathability and flexibility

PROS

  • Quality leather
  • Smart in all different designs
  • Plenty of size options

CONS

  • No added leather on palm

Copper Tech Golf Glove

4 star review
best golf gloves 2023

Copper tech uses a ‘one size fits all’ system, which is quite different in the world of golf gloves. The main point of difference with this glove is the palm. It is made from silicone with a series of different weave patterns to help maximise grip throughout the swing. Which is a strange sensation to get used to when you first put this in play. The majority of amateur golfers struggle with a proper grip so having something that can help you hold the club correctly is a massive win. The Copper Tech has great long-term durability and washes well.

PROS

  • Really comfortable material
  • Very grippy
  • Extremely durable

CONS

  • Unique pattern and colours might not be for everyone

FootJoy WeatherSof Golf Glove

4.5 star review
best golf gloves 2023

The FootJoy WeatherSof is globally the best-selling golf glove. Worn by many players, the WeatherSof is made from FiberSof material, that as per the name is very soft and moulds well around the hand to provide maximum comfort. The FiberSof material is also much more durable than leather and holds up much better in wetter conditions. Whilst the glove isn’t 100% leather, there are patches on the inside of the thumb and palm to provide greater protection to the hands. The top side of the glove across the knuckles features a patch of mesh that with breathability and flexibility.

PROS

  • Durable
  • Great value for money
  • Nice range of colours
  • Holds up well in all weather conditions

CONS

  • Nothing significant

TaylorMade Tour Preferred Golf Glove

4.5 star review
best golf gloves 2023

Constructed from premium soft-touch cabretta leather, the Taylormade Tour Preference glove offers a stretch fit that is contoured to provide a natural, second skin feel. Whilst there may be a tight initial feeling, elastic has been added under the leather for additional flexibility. A mixture of large and small ventilation holes is strategically placed across the upper of the glove for added breathability. The dual elasticated wristband has been modified to help deal with any moisture so that you don’t have to.

The A A A Cabretta Soft Tech leather has been formed into an ultra-thin design, allowing players to feel their shots much better. The feeling doesn’t stop there with a moisture-wicking wrist band that contours to the wrist for added comfort.

PROS

  • Very soft
  • Comfortable yet snug fit
  • Offered in more than just white

CONS

  • Not the best in the rain

Under Armour Men’s Medal Golf Glove

5 star review
best golf gloves 2023

The Under Armour Medal glove is a lightweight option with a mesh upper, great for breathability on those warmer days. The mesh upper also allows for plenty of flexibility around the knuckles. Under Armour offers this glove in a great range of sizes and colours, which is very handy. As this is one of the thinner options it’s potentially not as durable but the synthetic makeup should hold up pretty well, creating a nice amount of grip with the textured palm.

PROS

  • Great range of sizes
  • Lightweight and breathable
  • Value for money
  • Range of colourways

CONS

  • Not as durable due to the thinner material

Cobra 2023 Pur Tour Golf Glove

4.5 star review

The PUR Tour glove is a popular glove produced by Cobra, understandable due to its performance and style. The construction of this glove consists of 98% sheep’s leather and 2% polyurethane, meaning that it is premium AAA Cabretta Leather of the highest grade. The initial tight feel shouldn’t pose a threat as it is flexible to move and fits precisely with perforations in the fingers to enhance breathability. The glove has a Velcro closure with Cobra Snake branding.

PROS

  • Soft premium leather
  • Tailored cuff
  • Durable

CONS

  • Not for wet weather golf

Callaway Men’s Tour Authentic Golf Glove

5 star review

The Callaway Tour Authentic glove looks the part and has some great features to back it up. Made from 100% Cabretta leather, this glove is infused with Griptac™ technology which provides superior grip and comfort. Callaway’s has impressively added vent holes on both sides of the hand for improved airflow and breathability. Not only that, there is an Opti Dry™ cuff that is used for its quick drying and moisture-moving properties.

PROS

  • Ultra soft
  • Great sizing range
  • Vent holes on both sides of hand

CONS

  • Nothing really.

In summing up, the FootJoy StaSof golf glove, Skins Golf Cabretta Leather golf glove, Copper Tech Golf Glove, FootJoy WeatherSof Golf Glove, TaylorMade Tour Preferred Golf Glove, Under Armour Men’s Medal Golf Glove, Cobra Pur Tour and the Callaway Tour Authentic glove are poised to be the best golf gloves on the market for 2023.

Each glove offers unique features like superior grip, excellent comfort, and durability that make them well worth considering for any golfer looking to enhance their game. The choice amongst these top performers will ultimately come down to your personal preference and the fit that best suits your hand. However, regardless of your choice, each of these gloves is designed to deliver a high-quality experience on the course.

Make your pick and get ready for some exceptional play in the year ahead!

Leather vs synthetic gloves…which is the best?

Leather gloves tend to be a lot softer and thinner, meaning that you often feel like you have more feel with one on. Synthetic gloves tend to be a little thicker but this isn’t all bad as they often hold up much better in wet conditions as well as being more durable.

There is no right or wrong choice when it comes to choosing the glove that you use and it’s very much down to trial and error, as it’s personal preference.

Why should you wear a golf glove?

Some golfers may find the feeling of wearing a glove a little odd but they may be able to help save you some shots out on the course. A well-fitted glove will provide more grip than going bare-handed in many conditions. A glove will also help to protect your hand from blisters or other types of wear and tear. Wearing a glove on your non-dominant hand will also help balance up the strength in grip pressure between the hands when swinging the club.

How to look after your glove?

Golf gloves can last for many months depending on usage and grip pressure. It’s important that you store your glove in a dry place after use and allow it time to thoroughly dry out if damp/wet. Wet gloves can dry and have a crusty feel if not properly stretched out and cared for post-round.

What size glove do I need?

A golf glove isn’t designed to hinder golfers but to help them and so a glove shouldn’t feel baggy and uncomfortable. A good sizing reference guide is that a glove should come away from the centre of your palm very slightly as you extend your fingers. If you’re unable to fully extend your fingers without discomfort, the glove will likely be too small. Conversely, if you can extend your fingers with the leather sagging into your palm, it’s likely to be too large.

Remember, golf gloves will stretch with use and so something that seems a little tighter initially is probably going to be better than one that is already a little looser.

What glove/brand should I choose?

There is no right or wrong choice of glove or brand. A glove is very much down to a personal preference. Although some players may favour a certain type of brand, it’s not to say that, that the gloves they produce you. Some many brands produce gloves with a huge range of styles and sizes and so it’s worth exploring your options.
