What’s new? How much does it cost? And how does it perform? Max McVittie puts the Srixon Cabretta Leather glove to the test

We all wear them every round of golf and there are countless options to choose from, but selecting the right golf glove can be quite the challenge. A number of tour players use a Srixon golf glove as they tend to excel in looks, feel and overall performance. This Srixon Cabretta leather golf glove is no different.

The quality of this leather golf was evident from the moment I took it out of the packet, so how did we find it? Find out in our review here…

Srixon Cabretta Leather Golf Glove Review: NCG Summary

5 star review
NCG SUMMARY

Nothing feels nicer in golf than a new leather glove. Srixon have served up a blinder here. This Cabretta leather golf glove is a really comfortable option and with the amount of grip available, it will have you swinging the club with confidence.

I thought the all-round performance was top quality when testing it with clubs from throughout the bag. It is a great fit and isn’t overly tight or baggy.

PROS

  • Extremely comfortable
  • Cabretta leather provides a quality feel
  • Really good value for money

CONS

  • None

First Impressions

In terms of visual styling, golf gloves don’t tend to differ from brand to brand. Golf clothing and gear has transitioned to a more contemporary and stylish path, but golf gloves are probably the one exception to that.

Most of us would only ever consider wearing a white golf glove. Anything else is widely considered to pretty ‘uncool’, unless your Bubba Watson of course.

Although, I’m not overly particular when it comes to a golf glove I do think it is important to wear something that you feel is comfortable. It can often be a struggle out there on the golf course and the last thing you want is to be uncomfortable swinging and holding the club.

A leather golf glove, is often the answer that offers great comfort, breathability and unrivalled feel. Srixon have certainly achieved that here with the inclusion of high grade Cabretta leather. The brand say that they have used the finest Cabretta leather to provide an optimal fit, feel and performance.

I have to say I had absolutely no complaints when it came to comfort and feel. These gloves deliver the ideal quality you would expect from a brand like Srixon that has a number of tour players wearing their gloves week in, week out.

Additionally, the glove fit true to size. I liked how there was no excess material and it was fairly tight but comfortable fit which is what I tend to look for.

Testing

I am yet to test this golf glove on the course but I have put it through its paces on the range and when practicing. The glove held up with no problems, keeping it shape well. It also possessed plenty of grip and the club felt secure in my grasp throughout the swing.

Srixon have equipped the Cabretta leather golf glove with the use of silicon tanning process which works to deliver this premium grip. It also ensures a soft and subtle feel.

The perforations on the top of the hand, fingers and between the fingers increase the breathability and reduce the moisture. This breathable commodity will come into its own as the golf season develops and summer arrives. All golfers hate to have a sweaty hand in there glove that makes gripping the putter that bit more challenging.

Having only tested this golf glove in the range and practice area, the glove didn’t have to contend with any rainfall, so I can’t comment on its performance in the wet.

Srixon Cabretta Leather golf glove review

Overall, this is a really premium product that is a joy to play golf in. It’s a great fit, promotes a confident swing with plenty of grip and seems to be durable.

For a premium leather golf glove, I also think it is extremely good value for money with plenty of other offerings that will give your back pocket a heftier blow.

Max Mcvittie

A bit of a late bloomer to the game of golf, Max fell in love with the sport when he attended Saturday coaching sessions down at his local golf club after being inspired by friends and family members.

Max has remained a member of Eden Golf Club in Carlisle for a number of years now as he looks to get his handicap down into single figures. Most of his golfing career has been spent battling a permanent slice off the tee, which has led to some ugly rounds.

Having studied at the University of Sunderland, Max is starting out his dream career in sports journalism. During his time at university, he picked up valuable work experience at Reach PLC, BBC Radio Cumbria and GiveMeSport, whilst also getting work published in the Teesside Live. He also spent time working at a local weekly newspaper, Eskdale and Liddesdale Advertiser, as a general news reporter partially covering some local sport just north of the border in Langholm.

Max has just started his journey with the NCG working as the assistant equipment editor. He looks forwarded to reviewing the latest golf equipment, taking up an interest in reviews when buying his first golf club, a Cleveland RTX wedge.

With his bag not going under too many changes throughout the last few years, Max carries an M3 driver, Titleist GT3 Fairway Wood, M2 hybrid, a set of M2 irons, Callaway Jaws wedges and a TaylorMade Spider putter. And yes, Max is a bit of a self-proclaimed TaylorMade fan boy.
