The FootJoy name is synonymous with quality kit-from shoes and apparel, through to gloves. FootJoy has always been a go-to glove for me but the top of the range Pure Touch Limited is a glove I haven’t tested before so I was keen to put it through its paces. Check out how it performed with the full FootJoy Pure Touch Limited golf glove review….

NCG Summary

5 star review
NCG SUMMARY

This is the premium glove from a premium brand. It offers excellent feel and grip with reasonable durability.

PROS

  • Ultra-soft cabretta leather provides excellent feel.
  • Tremendous grip.
  • Reasonably durable.

CONS

  • Premium price

First Impressions

The Pure Touch was presented in a very smart envelope featuring reassuring comments such as ” Sensational Pure Feel”, “Consistent Precision Fit”, and “Powerful Grip Performance”, all the sorts of features that you would expect from a premium glove at a premium price. The envelope even has a velcro closure, should you be a golfer who keeps their glove packet (I don’t).

Out of said packet, the Pure Touch did, indeed, feel sensational. It is constructed from the finest Cabretta leather with enhanced durability thanks to proprietary leather preparation techniques.

This model comes in just white, which is fine, with white stitching, and a black FJ logo on the velcro closure tab. with some black trim on the closure tab. It presented a clean and simple look.

It comes in a choice of five sizes from S through to XL. The medium size fitted my medium hand comfortably and closely, so it runs true to size.

On Course Testing

I’ve tested the Pure Touch over a dozen rounds and a similar number of practice sessions, generally in unseasonably fine and warm UK weather. I have rotated it with another couple of top quality leather gloves under review.

I was surprised when I weighed the Pure Touch because it came in at 20gms, whereas the other two test gloves both weighed 25gms. This might suggest improved feel at the expense of durability, but I have been pleasantly surprised by the lack of wear on the Pure Touch. It has hardly discoloured and shows only minimal wear at the base of the palm and the mid-thumb area, which are my ‘glove wear areas’. Perhaps this is down to the proprietary leather preparation techniques.

I have had no issues with fit or breathability. It has been unseasonably warm and dry where I play my golf in Yorkshire, so I can’t comment on wet weather performance but, of course, this is not a wet weather glove.

To summarise, the Pure Touch is as premium a golf glove as I can remember wearing, with nothing not to like about it. It does, however, come in at a premium price. The RRP is £28 but there are some multibuy deals (at the time of writing) which nudges the price down to £22 per glove, which is still at the expensive end. However if you do desire the very best, then this glove is as good as it gets.
