Sahith Theegala is one of several young Americans breaking through on the PGA Tour, with a win to his name already.
Theegala was born in December 1997 in Houston, Texas into a family of Tegulun descent. He got into the game early on, despite his father never having played. Following his school years, he then went to college, studying at Pepperdine University, During his time there, which was truncated due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he was the recipient of the Haskins Award, Ben Hogan Award and the Jack Nicklaus Award.
He turned professional following his graduation in 2020, Theegala turned professional, and after securing his PGA Tour card for the 2021-22 season, he went on to reach the Tour Championship in his rookie year on tour. His first professional victory came at the end of that year, at the QBE Shootout alongside Tom Hoge. Theegala’s first PGA Tour title came at the Fortinet Championship in September 2023, and he broke into the top 20 of the Official World Golf Rankings for the first time just a few months later.
