Cobra Agera 3D Printed Counterbalance Putter Review: First Impressions
I don’t think it’s not too far of a stretch to say the Cobra Agera Counterbalance Putter looks like something beamed in from the future. From the moment I picked it up, it’s clear this wasn’t your average flatstick. The aggressive shaping, visible tech, and high-end finish immediately stand out. This is a putter that wants to be noticed.
It features a 38-inch shaft with a 17-inch SuperStroke counterbalance grip, designed to be gripped midway down for a pendulum-like stroke. It doesn’t quite venture into belly putter territory, nor does it function like an armlock, it merely exists in its own category. And, I think it works well.
NCG Verdict
Cobra has packed the Agera with a range of advanced technologies, each aimed at delivering better consistency and performance on the greens.
Firstly, the putter features a 3D printed internal structure. This lattice design significantly reduces the weight in the centre of the head. By using 3D printing, Cobra has been able to redistribute this saved weight to the perimeter, dramatically increasing the moment of inertia, MOI. This means that the putter is extremely stable through impact and highly resistant to twisting on off-centre strikes, which improves accuracy and forgiveness.
The Agera also includes Descending Loft Face Technology, developed in partnership with LA Golf. This feature ensures that putts maintain consistent launch and ball speed, regardless of where the ball contacts the face — high, low, or centre. The result is more reliable distance control, which is critical for reducing three-putts.

On the sole of the putter, players will find adjustable weighting. Cobra offers interchangeable weights ranging from 5 to 25 grams, allowing golfers to fine-tune the feel and balance of the club to their personal preference. This level of customisation is rare and a real asset for those who like to tinker with their gear.
The visual alignment aids are also worth mentioning. A carbon fibre top plate houses a crisp white sight line paired with a central alignment dot. This combination helps players both align the face to their target and ensure they are centred over the ball — two keys to starting the ball on line.
Finally, the Agera is fitted with a KBS shaft and SuperStroke grip, both known for their quality and consistency. These components enhance the premium feel of the putter and round out a seriously impressive spec sheet.
Despite its unconventional look, the Agera is a joy to use. The counterbalance design delivers outstanding stability throughout the stroke, and there’s a real sense that the putter is working with you rather than against you. On shorter putts, it feels virtually automatic — the putter remains square and tracks down the line effortlessly.
The feel at impact is firm, thanks to the 304 stainless steel face insert, which Cobra says is the firmest they’ve used in a putter. This won’t be to every player’s taste, but it offers excellent feedback and helps sharpen focus on distance control.
Longer putts do take some adjustment time, particularly as the counterbalance weighting changes the stroke dynamics. But once dialled in, distance control improves dramatically. The putter’s overall mass and high MOI mean it swings smoothly and holds its line well on every roll.
Final Verdict
One thing is for sure, this isn’t a budget-friendly putter. But, I have to say, for the sheer amount of technology, adjustability, and performance, it is still very much a compelling offering.
Cobra has gone all-in on innovation here, and it pays off. The Agera Counterbalance putter won’t suit every eye or every stroke style, but for players seeking forgiveness, tech, and stability in one futuristic package, it’s a must-try.
