First Impressions
I’ve been looking for a pair of golf shoes that a suitable for teaching in, playing in, practising in, walking the dog in, and going to the pub in, and I think I may have found them. The Puma Ignite Elevate shoes look and feel just like sports shoes, and straight away, I love the way they feel on my feet.
Unboxing them, these shoes straight away offer superior step-in comfort, eliminating the need to break shoes in, which feels so last decade now. The ignite foam offers a snug feel and cushion when walking and feels springy in the swing when pushing off your right side into the ball.
I received a black pair of Ignite Elevate shoes with a black Puma-engineered mesh upper and saddle. I really like how the grey logo and ‘sock’ design add some style and stop them from being just another bog-standard pair of black golf shoes.
The Puma Ignite Elevate shoes I was sent are a size 7, which is generally the size I order in every pair of shoes apart from FooyJoy. They fit perfectly, and I love how they make my feet feel when wearing them.
I teach golf at a driving range 3 days a week, which involves sitting, walking on concrete, swinging, kneeling, and pretty much moving through every other body position you can think of, and I love wearing these Pumas to do it in; their versatility is impressive.
On Course Testing
I’ve worn these shoes now for a few weeks, so I’m fairly comfortable commenting on how the Puma Ignite Elevate shoes have been pretty much faultless. I’ve worn them on dry heathland turf at The Alwoodley Golf Club, and on my home course of Sand Moor in West Yorkshire, and the performance has been excellent.

I cannot believe how strong and stable I feel in the swing wearing them. I’ve loved wearing spiked shoes this winter as it’s helped me feel really grounded, but these shoes offer me the same ‘connected to the floor’ feeling I have grown accustomed to, and I feel like I have a really strong base to rotate hard from.
These shoes have complimented my recent pursuit of club head speed as I now feel like I’ve got hold of the ground and can use it to spin and turn off.
I’ve worn these shoes in the dry and the rain and even walked through some puddles in them, and I have full confidence in their waterproof resistance, with my feet not getting damp once.
The 19th hole
I have put so many hours into these shoes I have absolutely no issue wearing them in the bar after my round or even the pub after a day’s work. They don’t really look like golf shoes, which makes these perfect-looking golf shoes in my eyes.
Something else I love about these shoes is how easy they are to clean up. The driving range I work on can be pretty muddy, but having a synthetic upper means a damp cloth of brush will have them looking like new in no time.
These are right up there as one of the best spikeless shoes on the market in 2023. If you can get your hands on some to try them on, I have no doubt you will make the purchase.
