First impressions

I went for the “Blue Mirage and Midnight Navy” colour combo and I immediately liked the design, which is sort of small black and white palm trees on a blue palette. Those who know me know that blue is one of my three favourite colours and I really liked the subtle design here, which looks great, and is enough to catch the eye without being overbearing.

Pulling it on, it was immediately clear just how much time they have spent making this range as comfortable as possible. I am tall and slim and generally wear a medium in t-shirts and polos, and often find the cut of a shirt to be a problem. I didn’t need to worry here, the Iso Chill Edge is complementary to my body shape without being too tight or, indeed, too baggy.

On-course testing

Under Armour say the Iso Chill Edge’s fabric helps disperse body heat, wicks sweat, and dries really fast, as well as using an anti-odour technology and built-in ultra-violet protection factor of 50 to protect you from the sun while you play – all of which I was incredibly grateful when teeing up on a blazing hot day in Atlanta.

But what about the swing? The four-way stretch material allowed me to move freely without any complications and – most importantly for someone as gangly as me – I wasn’t spending ages tucking myself back in after every shot.

So, to recap: comfortable, packed with technology, and looks great. What more do you need?

The 19th hole

It’s an incredibly good looking shirt, as I’m sure you’ll agree, and is suitable to wear on any occasions that might require a polo. Are there any, other than golf?

Another aspect I like about this shirt is that you can pull it on straight from the wash without the need to iron it – but if you do, make sure you follow the instructions. (While we’re here thing I’ve found out in recent weeks is that you shouldn’t use fabric softener when washing this sort of garment – so if you’ve learned anything from this review, let it be this.)
