NCG SUMMARY

I’m a big fan of what they have done with the Codechaos golf shoe, visually. Personally, I love the sneaker-look, as our friends over the pond would say. They can match with pretty much any golf outfit, which is a big plus if you like funky golf shirts.

They are also great practically. Extremely comfortable and have fantastic levels of grip even when swinging hard. The waterproofing also works well.

Adidas Codechaos 25 Golf Shoes Review: First Impressions

Golf apparel continues to trend to a more casual, stylish look and away from the more traditional styles. These Adidas Codechaos 25 golf shoes are certainly an example of that, and personally, I’m all for it.

Adidas Codechaos 25 Golf Shoe

If you prefer a sneaker-like golf shoe then this is a great option for you. These are far from what you’ll typically find if the golf shoe market in terms of looks, but I love them. I was immediately struck by the colour scheme of green and pink, which I wouldn’t usually go for, but I think works well.

Despite, the bright colours and bold design, they don’t feel too outlandish. They still felt like they belonged on a golf course.

NCG Verdict

Out on the course, these shoes work brilliantly. Adidas have updated the outsole of the shoe, as they incorporate the spikeless Twist Grip to the shoe, which works well in adding increased traction. If you’re someone who likes to swing hard and fast, then have no worries about slipping in these golf shoes.

Despite what the sole of the shoe looks like, the Adidas Codechaos 25 golf shoes are technically a spikeless shoe. Some people, myself included, will have reservations about buying a spikeless golf shoe, but I didn’t experience any slipping at all. Of course, this may change in more extreme conditions, as I tested them when the course was fairly dry on a scorching hot day.

Despite the usually hot weather for the UK, the shoes had good breathability.

Throughout, the testing, I had absolutely no issues with comfortability. No rubbing, or discomfort that sometimes comes with new shoes. There’s also no need to size up or down when purchasing, I’m normally as size 11 UK and they fit perfectly.

Each step I took felt very comfortable and soft. They seemed very absorptive of the harsh ground and coped well facing undulating holes.

Adidas Codechaos 25 Golf Shoe

Admittedly, I would be slightly apprehensive to use the Adidas Codechaos shoes throughout winter. To me they’re more of a summer shoe. That’s not because I don’t think they wouldn’t be able to handle harsher conditions, but because I just personally think the style and design suits drier, summery weather.

The shoes are very well waterproofed. Although it wasn’t wet there was considerable dew on the grass and the ground was still wet in places from heavy rain a few days earlier. They handled these conditions extremely well. The waterproof upper kept my feet dry, even when I needed to wander into the longer grass, quite a lot, to find my ball. They also come with a one-year waterproof guarantee that should put your mind to rest about getting wet feet.

This adds to the versatility of the shoe. Something to always look out for when buying golf apparel.

Adidas Codechaos 25 Golf Shoe

All things considered, I really like the Adidas Codechaos 25 golf shoes. The price is quite steep, but you do get your money’s worth, in my opinion. The effective waterproofing, stable sole and overall design make this a really appealing golf shoe.

About the author

Max Mcvittie

A bit of a late bloomer to the game of golf, Max fell in love with the sport when he attended Saturday coaching sessions down at his local golf club after being inspired by friends and family members.

Max has remained a member of Eden Golf Club in Carlisle for a number of years now as he looks to get his handicap down into single figures. Most of his golfing career has been spent battling a permanent slice off the tee, which has led to some ugly rounds.

Having studied at the University of Sunderland, Max is starting out his dream career in sports journalism. During his time at university, he picked up valuable work experience at Reach PLC, BBC Radio Cumbria and GiveMeSport, whilst also getting work published in the Teesside Live. He also spent time working at a local weekly newspaper, Eskdale and Liddesdale Advertiser, as a general news reporter partially covering some local sport just north of the border in Langholm.

Max has just started his journey with the NCG working as the assistant equipment editor. He looks forwarded to reviewing the latest golf equipment, taking up an interest in reviews when buying his first golf club, a Cleveland RTX wedge.

With his bag not going under too many changes throughout the last few years, Max carries an M3 driver, Titleist GT3 Fairway Wood, M2 hybrid, a set of M2 irons, Callaway Jaws wedges and a TaylorMade Spider putter. And yes, Max is a bit of a self-proclaimed TaylorMade fan boy.
