  • Stretchy material
  • A ready-made outfit
  • CONS

    • Nothing

Abacus Cherry Golf Dress review: First impressions

Firstly, I’d just like to highlight that this is my first ever experience trying a golf dress and so I was excited to see what all of the hype was about.

The Abacus Cherry Golf Dress is available in both navy and black. As per the photos, I tested the black dress. I very much enjoyed the plain design, which featured small Abacus logos at the back below the collar and at the left side pocket. One other little detail that I liked was the rhinestone gem top button that added a little extra sparkle to the design. Despite being one block colour the fabric had a little sheen in the sun.

The dress came as one whole section, with a pair of shorts underneath. These shorts came with press studs so they could be attached to the dress however they work just the same unattached.

Abacus Cherry Golf Dress review: On course testing

Wearing a golf dress to the course for the first time was very much out of the norm for me and almost out of my comfort zone. I’m so used to having something around my waist and this dress was very loose and airy. I wore a medium which is a UK12. I think that this sizing worked for me however there was plenty of room and a size down would have provided a more fitted look. This very much depends on how you like your clothing to sit though.

In terms of length, I’m 5ft 9 and this dress was a very modest length. I never felt exposed or that I had to pull it down despite sitting above my knee. The short underneath also provided a sense of security as you would find in a skort. The shorts were very comfortable and light as was the whole dress.

I really liked the fact that this dress had two deep pockets at the front for storage. The pockets do sit a little higher than you may find on some skorts and almost acted as a punch meaning I didn’t want to overfill them. Unfortunately, there was also no back pocket as an alternative however the front pockets still worked.

The Cherry golf dress is made from 100% polyester which is a very stretchy material. I tested this dress at Alwoodley on a fairly warm Sunday afternoon and despite the colour it was very cooling. The fabric felt very light and breathable which is what you’re after on those warmer rounds.

Abacus Cherry Golf Dress review: The 19th hole

Overall, I think this a great option for any female golfer who might want to mix up their golfing wardrobes and even better it’s a ready-made outfit!

I’m not certain I would be wearing this out and about but as a plain black dress it does work well and it doesn’t scream golf attire thanks to the minimal branding.
