FitVille SpeedEx Golf Shoe V4

4 star review
best fitville golf shoes

The FitVille SpeedEx shoes are in all fairness not going to turn any heads when you walk on to the first tee but they will get you there in comfort. They are ideal for those with wider feet with great insoles and excellent padding around the ankle for increased stability.

There is no need to break the shoes in and they are comfortable straight out of the box. The moulded cleats give excellent traction and would suit anyone looking for additional comfort and support.

The FitVille SpeedEx V4 is a really practical shoe. They perform well, especially in the wet , and are a must for those with orthopaedic conditions.

FitVille Men’s GreenTread Golf Shoes V2

5 star review

Fitville are producing shoes with multiple fitting options to maximise comfort. Their golf shoes are no exception. Along with great comfort and support they perform superbly as well.

Performance-wise there is not a lot other dislike about these shoes. Despite their width I felt well supported in both walking and hitting shots. The grip was excellent and while I only used them in dry weather, I have no doubt they will hold up well in the wet. Consequently these are a great option for a year-round shoe.

Pros:

  • Superb comfort and support
  • Water-resistant
  • Multiple fitting options for wide feet
  • Great value

Cons:

  • None

FitVille Men’s SpeedEx Golf Shoe V1

4.5 star review

This is an extremely comfortable and good looking golf shoe, from a brand which will be a godsend particularly for those with awkward feet. It is also very well priced.

Due to the sole design I think this is certainly a shoe that can easily be worn on and off the course, soI can see it appealing to a broad range of golfer. The SpeedEx V1 is good looking, comfortable and performs pretty well. And I expect the wide toe box to be a game changer for those golfers that have painful foot conditions.

A brief look at the FitVille ( I’m wondering whether it’s pronounced “Fit Vil” or “Fit Villie”) website will bring up 5 golf shoe options, so you are sure to find a pair to suit your game, all at a very reasonable price.

Pros:

  • Very comfortable and good looking.
  • Wide and extra wide fittings.
  • Strong colour options.

Cons:

  • Lacks ultimate performance.

Adidas S2G 26 Textile Golf Shoe | Source: NCG

The S2G 26 might be a ‘budget’ golf shoe but the only thing economical about them is the price. Comfortable, great looking, and an option on and off course, they’re a sure-fire winner in a market that doesn’t always prioritise value. They’re the best shoe of their type

PROS

  • Very comfortable fit
  • Premium build
  • Casual look means they’re as wearable off course as on it
  • Really good value

CONS

  • You might need to go up a size

Puma Helsinki Golf Shoe

National Club Golfer and National Club Golfer magazine

The Puma Helsinki Golf Shoe offers a stylish, trainer-inspired look that appeals to those seeking versatility and modernity. Designed mainly for summer, they feature lightweight, breathable materials, and a comfortable fit – even for my wider feet.

The grip and stability are suitable on various terrains, making them ideal on and off course everyday wear.

While they might not be a go to pair for muddy wet winters, they excel in warm weather – also passing the most stern of waterproof tests and so if you got caught in a down pour your feet would remain dry. The casual design may not suit traditionalists, but for those wanting a relaxed, sporty look, these shoes provide comfort, style, and practicality.

PROS

  • Very comfortable
  • Versatile – can easily be worn on and off the golf course
  • Great summer option – no issues with grip and support
  • Waterproof – this surprised me, but they definitely are!

CONS

  • Not an all the year round golf shoe if you play golf on muddy courses in the winter
  • Looks not for everyone

Puma Ignite Elevate X Golf Shoe

National Club Golfer and National Club Golfer magazine
Puma Ignite Elevate X Golf Shoe reveiw

It isn’t every day you come across a pair of golf shoes that you could wear on and off the golf course, but you have come across one here for sure. This isn’t to say that I would wear them out and about over a pair of trainers, but they definitely have the look and design to masquerade as a pair of trainers in social settings, and you wouldn’t bat an eyelid.

You could wear these to watch a sports event, and you could wear them in other social settings.

Pros:

  • Trainer/athletic look is very appealing
  • Comfortable with no stress on the golf course
  • Can be worn in off-course settings

Cons:

  • Some golfers might prefer a more traditional look

Ecco M Golf Street 720

5 star review
best Ecco golf shoes 2025

The Ecco M Golf Street 720 shoes are a premium product – and you can tell us much from the moment you slip them on to your feet. If you haven’t worn a pair of Ecco Golf Street before then you might be expecting shoe that is aimed at summer play. That just isn’t the case – even though they are very light, you can wear these shoes all year round and they will give your feet the support you need.

They are also fully waterproof and feature a GoreTex lining. There is more to the Ecco M Golf Street 720 than immediately meets the eye. Payntr X-001 Mesh Spikeless Golf Shoe

Payntr X 001 Mesh Spikeless Golf Shoe

Better known for producing quality cricket shoes Payntr have now entered the golf market. It is not often a new golf shoe comes along and you think, yep, I might just consider shifting allegiance and move away from the more established brands. Having tested these shoes I do think they could be a disruptor in the market. Along with Jason Day, I would happily be a Payntr brand champion!

Simply – they are the best golf shoes I have ever tested.

They are unbelievably comfortable, attractively designed and leaves you with the feeling a lot of thought has gone into producing a shoe to break into the golf market.

If you are looking for a new shoe for the Spring/Summer I would seriously consider the PAYNTR brand. What’s more if you get lucky with your size and colour preference there are some great deals to be had – read on to find out more

Pros:

  • Unbelievably comfortable
  • Attractive sporty style
  • Colourway of grey and green I loved

Cons:

  • Might be hard to clean and so not a 12 month a year shoe

New Balance 327 SL Women’s Golf Shoe

National Club Golfer and National Club Golfer magazine
New Balance 327 SL Women's Golf Shoe | Source: NCG
New Balance 327 SL Women’s Golf Shoe | Source: NCG

New Balance has carbon copied their popular 327 model shoe and has added in a golf ready sole. The trainer design means that it’s very casual and despite the dimpled sole you could very much still wear these off the golf course.

These are very lightweight golf shoe that has a lot of width and room inside so is great for players with wide feet. Sizing is a little out from what I’d expect as wear a UK 7.5 in most and UK 8 in tighter fitting brands such as Adidas – these were an 8.5.

Overall, a comfortable shoe that combines comfort, support and style.

PROS

  • Lightweight
  • Comfortable
  • Stylish

CONS

  • Sizing could be a bit tricky

New Balance 480 SL Golf Shoe

National Club Golfer and National Club Golfer magazine

The 19th hole section of this review is arguably the easiest of any review I have produced. The New Balance 480 SL Golf Shoes are perfect on the course (obviously) and off it. You would not look out of place at all wearing these shoes out and about.

Whether you are out enjoying a drink or attending a sports event, you will feel comfortable and secure in these golf shoes. I would be shocked if anyone recognised them as golf shoes, which should be to New Balance’s credit, as they have mixed athleticism with a faint hint of tradition.

Pros:

  • Comfy and lightweight feel
  • Colourway is great
  • Trainer-feel increases comfort and confidence

Cons:

  • Some golfers might prefer more traditional looks

New Balance 574 Greens V2 Golf Shoe

5 star review

Let there be no doubt. These will be my go-to golf shoes for 2025. They look great, particularly the red, white and blue model I tested, and they feel great too.

This is the big thing for me. If you’re going to be walking six miles during round and you’re going to do that dozens of times a year, comfort has to be king. You can’t have anything on your feet that’s going to bring any discomfort.

These New Balance 574s prioritise that. It’s dead easy to say, ‘these are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn’, and internet sleuths will no doubt find various other reviews where I’ve said the same in the past.

But the standard is getting better with every single year. You don’t have to stand for a rigid style and a model that makes your feet sweat like a swimming pool. You can have performance and you can have incredible comfort at the same time. You can have both with these 574s.

Pros:

  • Sneaker fans will adore them
  • Stretch suits even my duck feet
  • Very sturdy and stable despite the look

Cons:

  • Traditionalists might turn their nose up

Skechers GO GOLF Tempo GF Golf Shoe

National Club Golfer and National Club Golfer magazine

I wasn’t familiar with Skechers before, but after trying the GO Golf Temp GF shoes, I was impressed by their look, feel, and lightweight design. They provided excellent comfort, fit well even for wider feet, and offered good grip and stability on the course.

Overall, these shoes are a comfortable blend of traditional golf style and modern trainers, making them a great choice for both performance and casual wear.

PROS

  • Comfort straight out of the box
  • Lightweight with stable grip
  • Great range of colours available

CONS

  • Conservative looks

Skechers GO GOLF Prestige Golf Shoe

5 star review

It’s hard not to be tempted by a set of shoes advertised as “Hands free slip-ins” so I wasn’t quite expecting such a classic traditional looking golf shoe when I opened the box and slipped them on – designed to maximise ease and comfort, these shoes need serious consideration when you are looking for your next pair to invest in.

For those who prioritise maximum comfort, walkability, and ease of use, these shoes are a top contender. Skechers have fit in loads of their comfort innovations and in addition made them attractive to those seeking a more traditional looking golf shoe.

PROS

  • Great looks if you like the traditional golf shoe style
  • “Slip-in” design works, even for people like me with wide feet!
  • Lots of features to maximise comfort and support your feet
  • 100% waterproof

CONS

  • Make sure you choose soft spikes or spikeless (SL version) if you have a preference
  • Not so keen on the ‘Skechers slipins’ printed on the heel

Skechers Women’s GO GOLF Jasmine 2 Golf Shoe

5 star review

I have to say I loved these shoes more than I expected to! I play with a lot of women that wear Skechers and adore them, but for some reason I have always associated Skechers with older people and as a brand that I will ‘grow into’ when I retire. However, these totally changed my mentality on that.

They’re cute, comfortable, and have great functionality – there really wasn’t anything not to like! These shoes mean even more to me as my daughter is called Jasmine, so they are now a key addition to my golfing wardrobe and I am off to buy a pair in black!

PROS

  • Will go with any outfit, given the nice clean design and gold accents.
  • Super comfortable from the first time you wear them (no need to ‘wear them in’ at home).
  • All weather capability as they feel light, yet are fully waterproof and have spikes

CONS

  • Slightly larger than expected so size down half a size

Under Armour Halo Tour Spikeless Golf Shoe

5 star review

Under Armour Halo Tour spikeless golf shoes side | Source: NCG

These are comfy pair of modern golf shoes. Under Armour are one of the biggest sportswear brands in the world and with partial thanks to their partnership with Jordan Speith, their prominence in golf has grown over the years.

Rarely do they produce something sub-par that this is definitely not the case here. They deliver tour-level stability and comfort in a stylish silhouette.

PROS

  • Modern trainer-like styling
  • Extremely comfortable
  • Designed for tour players, so they should hold up for a monthly medal

CONS

  • Design might not be for everyone

FootJoy Pro/SL 2026 Golf Shoe

5 star review

I have worn this shoe on several rounds at my home heathland course in typical spring conditions. My feet have remained dry throughout, and although I haven’t yet had the opportunity to wear them for 36 holes in a day, I am sure that they would be fine as they are definitely one of the lighter shoes I have worn.

And on those uneven lies, including fairway bunkers, the Pro/SL 2026 offers secure stability and traction, with no hint of slipping.

The Pro/SL is also easy to care for; a simple wipe clean with a damp cloth keeps your shoes looking pristine.

So, the re-imagined Pro/SL for 2026 from FootJoy delivers yet again, offering first-class comfort, traction and stability. If you are in the market for new footwear this season, you really should take a look at the Pro/SL.

PROS

  • Outstanding lightweight comfort.
  • Excellent traction and performance.
  • Waterproof and easy to care for.

CONS

  • Sporty looks maybe not for all.

Sqairz Limited Edition NF1990 Golf Shoe | Source: NCG

The comfort is provided by some excellent lightweight padding offered by the whole of the shoe. The heel counter ensured strong stability such that my foot felt securely contained in position.

The shoe gripped particularly well when testing on uneven lies and hitting out of fairway bunkers.

In summary, this is an innovative shoe, offering performance gains, and it will be interesting to see if it gains prominence in years to come. I suspect it will – especially as you can own a piece of Sir Nick Faldo memorabilia at the same time!

PROS

  • Premium and classic appearance.
  • Made from full-grain leather.
  • ‘Limited edition’ appeal.

CONS

  • Looks won’t be for all.

How do we test golf shoes?

At National Club Golfer, we are passionate about producing accurate and thorough reviews and making sure our testing process is rigorous so we get a good understanding of how each pair of shoes performs.

Each shoe is worn out on the golf course whilst playing golf, so we can get an idea of overall performance in terms of factors like comfort, grip, stability in the golf swing, waterproof protection and how they actually look on the golf course.

What is important when buying Golf shoes?

When buying new golf footwear its important to know what attributes or features you value the most before deciding on a brand or model to buy. For example, do you want spiked or spikeless shoes?

A lot of golfers think comfort is paramount when choosing a shoe, we are going to be standing in them for 3-5 hours right? Some comfortable golf shoes on the market have special insoles and cushioned mid-soles designed to keep your feet feeling fresh. Also it’s pretty common for golfers with wide feet to wear the wrong sized pair of golf shoes so its worth getting fit properly.

Grip is vital to good performance on the golf course as any foot slip in dry or wet conditions can not only cause the golf club to swing improperly but may also lead to an injury. Golfers need excellent traction.

Nearly all golf shoes will either be fully waterproof or offer some kind of water resistance, and this is important as real die-hard golfers play in every weather condition. Having wet feet for 4 hours is not and will never be fun.

How good the shoe looks is of course subjective to personal style, but is important to any player. Do you prefer an athletic-looking shoe, or are you more traditional? Does your shoe offer on-course off-course style or do you want shoes purely for the course? Does the style of shoe you like have the best colour options for your golfing wardrobe?

Price is the last factor to consider. With the models above we have tried to find shoes at all different price points so if you want a shoe at a lower cost, you can get one. Or if you want to spend more, you can do that too. Importantly there is something for everyone.

What brands produce the best golf shoes?

All of the products in this best golf shoes for wide feet 2026 article are picked from the brands that offer what we believe to be the best shoes on the market.

Do any pros wear spikeless golf shoes on tour?

As you will see on TV when watching the PGA, LPGA & DP World Tour, professionals wear both spiked and spikeless golf shoes, depending on their preference.

Some tour players are looking for extra stability and grip for maximum power creation that a spiked golf shoe might offer, and others are looking for the comfort and style that spikeless golf shoes offer. Some tour players prefer a running shoe style, and others a traditional classic leather shoe; there really isn’t a hard or fast rule as to what tour players wear.
