Odyssey Ai-DUAL Jailbird Mini ½ Ball Putter Review: NCG Summary

5 star review
NCG SUMMARY

The Ai-DUAL Jailbird Mini ½ Ball Putter is one of many putters released by Odyssey for 2026. The half ball design aims to frames the ball, helping with alignment as well as centring your putts – which it absolutely does!

Off the face, the sound is very soft and quiet. The AI-DUAL Insert uses artificial intelligence to combine a soft outer layer with a firmer inner layer, delivering consistent ball speed across the face. It’s covered by the new, deeper FRD Groove, designed to improve forward roll up and down the face, with a noticeably pronounced texture.

PROS

  • Great alignment tool
  • Soft and quiet off the face
  • Feels/rolls nice

CONS

  • None

First Impressions

I’m typically a golfer who favours mallet putters and the Odyssey Ai-DUAL Jailbird Mini ½ Ball Putter definitely suits my eye. Putter’s are very much a personal preference and so what’s good for one golfer might not suit another but it’s worth exploring all the facts.

The black and white stripe design is a new style for the Ai putters from Odyssey. This specific putter the Ai-DUAL Jailbird Mini ½ Ball Putter is one off eight ½ Ball Putter’s released in 2026. The ½ ball design frames the ball, helping with alignment as well as centring your putts.

The head cover is exactly what you would expect from Odyssey. It’s a firmer, good quality leather outer with a soft fluffy inside to protect your new baby. The magnetic fasting makes it quick and easy to slip on and off.

NCG Verdict

Unfortunately this is absolutely not the time of year in the UK to be judging a putter on how many times the ball goes in based on the conditions of the greens. However, a good putter will always feel just as good no matter the surface.

I took the Odyssey Ai-DUAL Jailbird Mini 1/2 Ball putter on a fairly pleasant winter’s day to put it to the test. I really liked how the it sat behind the ball. The half ball design made it very easy to centre the ball with minimal effort.

The black and white strip design was a pretty funky look out of the packaging for the first time and I wasn’t sure how i’d feel about it when on the course. Yet, I found that it helped create focus. As the lines are thin and sectioned I gave me small areas to focus on when lining the ball up.

As you would expected off the face the sound was very soft and quiet. The Ai-DUAL Insert, has been designed using Artificial Intelligence. It has a soft outer layer and a firmer inner layer, aimed to deliver consistent ball speed across the face. This dual-layer insert is covered in New FRD Groove. This is deeper than previous models and is designed to improve forward roll up and down the face. When you run your fingers over the groove is very pronounced.

This is a face balanced putter with 0° of toe hang. The standard length putters come with a lightweight steel shaft with either 20-30 grams (depending on the grip) of counterbalance weight in the butt end.

I tested the mini version of this putter design but Odyessy does offer a cruiser option. This comes with a heavier head, a longer and heavier SL140 shaft and a longer 17” grip for golfers that prefer that setup.

NCG Verdict

Overall, I really enjoyed using this putter. If you’re a fan of putter that has an insert in the face that comes off soft this is absolutely worth a try!
