Played by NCG: Moortown
Most of us know (though might not remember) that Moortown is one of just 13 British or Irish courses to host the Ryder Cup though you might not recall that it was also a regular stop on the European Tour. In the 80s Ryder Cup skippers Sir Nick Faldo and Bernard Gallacher were among its winners.
It has also held the English Amateur and Brabazon Trophy as recently as 2009. But it’s not just a trophy course, Moortown is a brilliant place to spend some time. From the locker room to the brilliant MacKenzie Bar, which is packed full of incredible imagery and memorabilia and where a famous incident once took place, and finally to the course – close to 7,000 yards full of magic, variety, changes in character and, overall, a superb test of all your skills.
It’s the latest instalment of our video series where we discuss courses recently #PlayedbyNCG in depth.
If you haven’t been have a watch of the video and hopefully we can persuade you to take in a visit..

Been watching and playing golf since the early 80s and generally still stuck in this period. Huge fan of all things Robert Rock, less so white belts. Handicap of 8, fragile mind and short game
