Lisbon: The best golfing experience

Fordy, Head of Brand and Partnerships at Golfbreaks, along with Nathan Massey, set off on an exciting adventure to explore Lisbon, the beautiful capital of Portugal.

They were eager to immerse themselves in the city’s rich culture, visit its iconic landmarks, and of course, discover the best golf courses Lisbon had to offer.

Take a look at the video below to watch part 1!

Having lived in Portugal when I was younger, I’ve developed a deep affection for the Portuguese people and their incredible lifestyle! It’s amazing how life has come full circle. Recently, I had the chance to revisit Lisbon and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to capture it all on film for you to enjoy!

In part 1, we check out Praia D’el Rey, a coastal paradise that combines stunning beaches with awesome golfing. It’s like finding a hidden gem where you can soak up the sun, catch some waves, and play some top-notch golf.

Next up, we visit Royal Óbidos, this magical golf resort tucked away in the historic Óbidos region. It was designed by the legendary Seve Ballesteros, and let me tell you, it’s a perfect blend of natural beauty and strategic challenges.

Then, we make our way to Belas Clube de Campo, a peaceful oasis located just outside Lisbon. The moment you step onto the course, you’ll be surrounded by lush green fairways, sparkling lakes, and the serene beauty of the Sintra Mountains.

Last but not least, we venture to Oitavos Dunes, where the wild beauty of the Atlantic coastline serves as a jaw-dropping backdrop for this renowned course. It’s challenging, it’s highly regarded, and it’s simply breathtaking.

Be sure to check out the epic video above.

In part 2 of our journey through Lisbon, we dive deeper into the city’s golfing scene, exploring some of the most amazing courses and resorts it has to offer.

Our first stop in part 2 is Dom Pedro Lisboa, a fantastic golf course right near the city centre. This place has 18 awesome holes that give incredible views of the Tagus River and Lisbon’s famous landmarks.

Next up, we head to Quinta do Peru, a hidden gem in the Azeitão region. This place is like a golfing oasis, surrounded by vineyards and cork oak trees. The course is top-notch, challenging, and in pristine condition.

Our final destination was the jaw-dropping Penha Longa Resort, nestled in the breathtaking Sintra-Cascais Natural Park. This place is pure luxury. The golf course, designed by the renowned Robert Trent Jones Jr., is a masterpiece. With its dramatic elevation changes, strategic bunkering, and views of the majestic Sintra Mountains, it’s a golfer’s paradise.

Make sure to check out part 2 below!

So, whether you’re hitting the golf courses featured in the videos or exploring the many hidden treasures, Lisbon promises an unforgettable golf & city experience. It’s a place where natural beauty, fascinating history, and warm hospitality come together. Pack your clubs, get ready for an adventure, and let Lisbon steal your heart.

Fordy’s top tips

  • Favourite Lisbon golf courses: Praia D’el Ray, West Cliffs & Oitavos Dunes.
  • Top places to explore: Nestled high on the Sintra mountains, about 1,800 feet above sea level, you’ll find the charming towns of Sintra and Cascais. From up there, you can’t miss the eye-catching Pena Palace with its colourful facade, perfectly positioned to overlook the entire city of Lisbon.

Visit Golfbreaks.com to find your next Lisbon golf holiday.
