Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open: Michele Thomson on the 18th hole
In preparation for the Ladies Scottish Open at Gullane, Aberdeen Standard Investments ambassadors Michele Thomson and Gary Nicol discuss the par-4 18th hole and how to approach it.
‘When you’re standing on that 18th tee, what is going through your mind?’
Going through my mind is to concentrate on tempo and wanting to hit my drive straight down the middle of the fairway.
‘Pre-shot routine is important’
I feel if my pre shot routine is exactly the same as any other hole then the more likely it is to hit the centre of the fairway.
I always try to visualise a certain shot, here at Gullane wind direction is a massive factor. The bunkers are maybe 270 yards away so I know that if I catch a driver well there’s a chance I could reach. 3 wood is always an option here too.
