The US Open is such an exciting event. Golf fans can barely wait for the first tee time, and this will be no different at the 2026 tournament at Shinnecock Hills on Long Island.
It is a brutal, but remarkable test that has hosted the US Open five times. Brooks Koepka won the event at this venue in 2018, beating England’s Tommy Fleetwood by one shot.
It is America’s national championship and one that every player, let alone Americans, want to win. If you have won the US Open, you know your game can stand up to stern tests.
In 2025, Oakmont was rain-soaked, but it produced a worthy champion in J.J. Spaun, who impressively outlasted the likes of Bob MacIntyre, Sam Burns, Adam Scott, and Tyrrell Hatton to win her first major title.
Spaun holed a putt across the 18th green to seal a dramatic victory. It helped Spaun in his way to making his Ryder Cup debut in the same year for Team USA.
In the first round in 2026, Spaun has been drawn to play with World No.1 Scottie Scheffler and young amateur Mason Howell. Rory McIlroy was drawn to play with Tommy Fleetwood and Ludvig Aberg.
