Which LIV players are in the PGA Championship?

Golf’s four major championships are the only occasions where fans can watch PGA Tour and DP World Tour players compete with those who left for the LIV Golf League.

Several past major champions have joined the Saudi-funded league since its inception in June 2022, and their successes allow them to compete in the sport’s big four occasions despite playing on a circuit that doesn’t permit Official World Golf Ranking points.

With LIV’s 54-man roster unable to ascend the rankings following the league’s OWGR application rejection, some of them have attempted to build ranking points on other tours in pursuit of major spots.

Joaquin Niemann was invited to the Masters based on his performances on the DP World Tour and across the globe in 2025, so the Chilean is one of a handful of LIV players to be eligible for the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow.

Niemann has been vocal about his intent to travel the world to win as many tournaments as possible to qualify for the majors. He won the Saudi International at the end of 2024, as well as coming tied for third at the International Series India.

Being invited by the PGA of America is one way of earning a start at the PGA Championship, which is how some LIV players have found their way in.

But the likes of Brooks Koepka, Phil Mickelson and Martin Kaymer can sleep soundly knowing they can play in this event for as long as they like as previous winners of the Wanamaker Trophy.

Richard Bland won the 2024 Senior PGA Championship by three shots at Harbor Shores Golf Club. He will therefore play in the PGA Championship in 2025 and his first major since the 2023 Open Championship.

You can read about how to qualify for the PGA Championship here. In 2025, The Open and the US Open have made a specific category for LIV players to qualify. The PGA Championship and the Masters have not, yet, as these tournaments have the power to invite who they like to play anyway.

For The Open, the first player and anyone tying for that place not otherwise exempt in the top five of the 2025 LIV Golf Individual Standings after the LIV Golf Dallas will earn a spot.

For the US Open, the top player not otherwise exempt and in the top three of the LIV standings as of May 19 will play at Oakmont – which will be Niemann.
