Tiger Woods schedule
2023
It was earlier than expected but Tiger Woods broke the internet with a huge announcement concerning his career on the PGA Tour – and he even managed a sly dig at LIV Golf in the process.
“I’m ready to play an ACTUAL PGA Tour event next week,” Woods tweeted during the Phoenix Open, referring to the Genesis Invitational.
Forget the hit and giggles, the 47-year-old wants competitive action – and Riviera would be his first outing since The Open.
It would be Woods’ first start at a non-major tour event since the final round of the 2020 Zozo Championship, and the 15-time major champion – who has never won the Genesis – carded rounds of 69, 74, 67 and 73 to finish in a tie for 45th at 1-under.
Afterwards, he was asked about where he would play next and he said that he would mainly focus on playing in all four majors.

This focus remained consistent when Woods’ name didn’t appear on the entry list for the Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass, an event he’s won twice in his career.
While the world’s eyes were on TPC Sawgrass, where Scottie Scheffler was winning The Players to join Woods and Jack Nicklaus in one of golf’s coolest exclusive clubs, the 15-time major champion was a couple of hundred miles up the road getting a practice round in at Augusta.
Woods, who has won five Green Jackets, had already expressed his desire to play in all four majors this year, having only managed three in 2022. “Hopefully this year I can get all four and maybe sprinkle in a few here and there,” he said at Riviera. “But that’s it for the rest of my career. I know that and I understand that. That’s just my reality.”
Woods battled hard in treacherous conditions at the Masters to make his 23rd consecutive cut at Augusta National.
But after tying this record held by Fred Couples and Gary Player, Woods withdrew before the third round due to injury.
On April 19, Woods announced on social media he’d undergone a subtalar fusion procedure to address post-traumatic arthritis.
He received the surgery in New York and immediately began rehabilitation. Subtalar fusion is usually performed to correct instability in the subtalar joint in the ankle.
After this sort of surgery, pain medication could be required for an extended period of time and a full recovery could take up to 12 weeks.
This ruled out his participation in the PGA Championship and the US Open, while and during the latter, it was announced he withdrew from The Open at Hoylake, where he won the Claret Jug in 2006.
