It’s time for players to get their heads down and begin on the road to the 2027 Ryder Cup.
Many players dream of playing in this biennial team match play event between Europe and the USA, which Europe most recently won away from home at Bethpage Black, despite a significant American comeback in the Sunday singles.
They secured a first away win for Team Europe since the 2012 ‘Miracle at Medinah’, despite an extremely hostile crowd on Long Island. Luke Donald is back as captain for 2027, as he seeks to become the first captain in history to win three successive Ryder Cups. Jim Furyk also returns for the United States, having been at the helm for the 2018 loss at Le Golf National.
The qualification process began on August 27 and will last until August 22, 2027, the conclusion of the BMW Championship. Six players will qualify automatically, with Donald choosing six more players prior to the tournament. The 2026 Betfred British Masters saw the selection process officially get underway for Team Europe, with Joe Dean taking a three-shot victory.
