American Xander Schauffele is one of the best in the world, with a major championship and an Olympic Gold Medal to his name.
He was born in 1993, and has had just one swing coach throughout his career, his father. Schauffele won the California State High School Championship in 2011, before graduating and moving to California State University Long Beach, He then transferred to San Diego State University, ranking in the top ten in the world’s amateur game prior to turning professional.
In his first season on the PGA Tour, he was named Rookie of the Year. That came thanks to his first two wins, coming at the Greenbrier Classic and the season-ending Tour Championship at East Lake. He also has a World Golf Championship title, as part of his nine PGA Tour wins.
Schauffele finally got his name on a major trophy in 2024, winning the PGA Championship by a single shot to claim his first major title. He then doubled up just a couple of months later, lifting the Claret Jug after a two-shot victory at the Open Championship at Royal Troon. His victory at Valhalla also saw him break the record for the lowest score to par in major championship history. The American also has top three finishes at the other two men’s majors.
In the postponed Tokyo Olympics, which took place in 2021, Schauffele was victorious at the Kasumigaseki Country Club. He won by a single shot from Slovakia’s Rory Sabbatini.
