Shiho Kuwaki is one of the newest Japanese stars on the LPGA Tour, claiming her first major championship victory in 2026.
Born in January 2003, in the Japanese prefecture of Okayama, Kuwaki started playing golf from an early age. She had a successful amateur career, and graduated following her time at the Kurashiki University of Science and the Arts.
Her professional golfing career started on the LPGA Tour of Japan, where she almost instantly became a winner. 2024 was her breakout year, with three victories on the JLPGA Tour, including a win at the season-ending Japan LPGA Tour Championship Ricoh Cup.
It was two years later when she threw herself into the world’s spotlight, though. She got the better of Esther Henseleit in a playoff to win the AIG Women’s Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes. Not only was it her first major title, but it was also her first win on the LPGA Tour as well.
