Sarah Schmelzel made her debut at the Solheim Cup in 2024, playing for the American team for the first time in her career.
Schmelzel was born in May 1994 in Phoenix, Arizona, and got into the game of golf through her dad, who would take her to their local course. She began taking it seriously during her teenage years, and went on to graduate from the University of South Carolina in the summer of 2016.
The American then spent some time on the Symetra Tour, before coming through the inaugural LPGA Q-School to gain her card on the LPGA Tour for the 2019 season. Although she is yet to win as a professional, Schmelzel has had plenty of top-ten finishes, and was rewarded with a captain’s pick for the 2024 Solheim Cup.
