Manchester United consider golf course for new training ground
A brand new Manchester United training ground could land at a golf course as the club looks for alternative options to Carrington…
Manchester United could be coming to a golf course near you – if you live in South Manchester.
The Mail Sport has reported the 13-time Premier League champions want a new training ground and have held talks with High Legh Park in Knutsford.
American Golf bought High Legh for £2.7 million in 2021 and plays host to a nine-hole course, an 18-hole course and a 24-bay driving range.
As well as vast golf facilities, the club has an American Golf store, a clubhouse bar and a restaurant to cater for all visitors.
The Mail Sport say High Legh also ticks the box of being near where a portion of Manchester United’s players live.

The popular venue was put up for sale last year, but it’s alleged an agreement hasn’t been reached with United and the situation remains “fluid.”
The club is said to have focused its interest on golf courses in the south of Manchester, looking for a site with a minimum of 100 acres to build on.
United has been at Carrington since 1999 but, according to the report, the site suffers from a shortage of parking space, so other options need to be explored.
Moving the training ground could be one of several changes brought to the Red Devils when Sir Jim Ratcliffe of INEOS secures his 25-per-cent stake and assumes control of football operations.
It’s reported that another option could be to build a new facility and keep Carrington, spreading the club’s operations to numerous sites, but a location as big as a golf course would house everyone in one place.
