Charlie Woods took his shot at making a sensational PGA Tour debut in 2024.
As the tour first reported, the son of Tiger Woods entered as a pre-qualifier for the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches in Florida which begins on February 29.
The qualifier was held at Lost Lake Golf Club in Hobe Sound on February 22 which was one of four pre-qualifying sites. The top five and ties advanced to the Monday qualifier.
Four players from the Monday qualifier will earn spots at the tournament which used to be called the Honda Classic and was won by Chris Kirk in 2023.
Unfortunately, things didn’t go to plan for Charlie as he struggled to an 86, a scorecard that featured a 12 on the par-4 7th hole
Charlie played with Olin Browne Jr, the son of three-time PGA Tour winner Olin Browne, and Ruaidhri McGee on Thursday.
Billy Basham, Will Frodigh, Kevin Johnson, Chris Nido, Luis Gagne, Kamaiu Johnson, Patrick Flavin and Dylan Van Fossen all qualified and incidentally, were all professional players.

Intrigue has surrounded the younger Woods, who has a plus-three handicap, since he began playing with his father at the family-orientated PNC Championship in 2020.
Golf fans have enjoyed watching him hit drives and hole putts, showing the same mannerisms and style his legendary parent.
At the most recent PNC Championship at the end of 2023, Charlie was asked what he admires most about his father who has continually fought against injury setbacks to carry on his famed career on the PGA Tour.
“His persistence, and how he keeps coming back after his back, which I was kind of too young to see, and now with his leg, now I can experience it with him more. I’ve learned how hard it is to come back from injury, and I thought that was pretty cool,” he said.
Woods was forced to withdraw from his most recent PGA Tour outing at the Genesis Invitational with influenza.
Fans have been keen to track the 15-year-old’s recent progress in his junior competition exploits too, particularly when his father caddied for him at the Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship last autumn.
Sports Illustrated have also reported that Charlie is set to make his American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) debut in March at the Will Lowery Junior Championship.
