Justin Timberlake is just like any club golfer practising his swing in public, but perhaps Sergio Garcia didn’t expect to see his motion live on stage…

You’re a former Masters champion, you’re at a Justin Timberlake gig, and the star on stage spots you and starts motioning a golf swing. Don’t you just hate it when that happens?

Even away from the grind of the driving range, golf comes to the fore wherever Sergio Garcia goes, which was made abundantly clear when watching Timberlake do his thing at a recent concert.

The popular singer/songwriter spotted the Spaniard in the crowd close to the stage and as per footage Garcia posted on social media, Timberlake began performing practice swings. The rest of the audience probably wondered what on earth was happening.

It is no secret that Timberlake enjoys a spot of golf when he’s not got a microphone in his hand. He was most recently pictured playing at the World Wide Technology Championship last November. He has also played with his namesake Justin Rose in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-am in recent years.

As for Garcia, it has been a while since his last competitive appearance in the LIV Golf League which he joined in June 2022. He came 14th at LIV Golf Singapore at the start of May and so far in 2024, he has come second twice which were both playoff losses to Joaquin Niemann and Dean Burmester.

The 44-year-old, who won the Green Jacket at Augusta National in 2017, lost in another playoff on May 20, this time to qualify for the 2024 US Open.

Despite six spots being up for grabs in a playoff featuring seven players, Garcia, unfortunately, missed out and risks missing his first US Open since 1999 if his first alternate status doesn’t get him into the field at Pinehurst.
